These Won't Finish like Haz', but I'll Give it a GO

600w Lumatek with a Hortilux.

Part of the veg cycle was at my buddies house under an old 400w halide. The last time we fired up the 400 was in '86 or so. :D

That bud, with about 3 to 4 weeks from being done, will not fit in my pipe. Thirty years ago the bulbs then do not compare with todays products. The massive production of buds up and down stems/branches is much more pronounced. This is the "bag look" that I don't care for. Those smaller buds that creep up and down the stems just look fluffy when trimmed. Oh I'll smoke it all, but much of the buds that I've inspected down at ommproviders has this look. The bud leaves are trimmed but the buds look like inferior, IMO. What do you growers think? I prefer the tighter buds if the genetics allow it.

My growing pardner and I made yield projections on this batch. The O.P.N.'s just are not a plant for tents or where there isn't ample room. I'll probably still get a zip per plant (O.P.N.'s) but I don't expect more. For the total, I went with a dry tent weight of 9 oz 21 grams. My buddy went with 17oz 7 grams.

I've just started to flush the OPN's. It is day 42 and I've noticed a change in the top pistils beginning to recede into the cola. Some hairs are turning brown, but the trichs are clear to cloudy. The OPN's might actually finish around 50 days, which is longer than what the Stoney Girl people state. They base their short flowering times on 1k lights or more, blah blah. I'm adding more days because I'm running a 600.

I need a good cheap magnifier. My eyes are kind of weak anyway so I prefer the handheld. The goofy 30x scope has to be placed directly on the bud for me to see the trichs. If you drink coffee or jack off regularly then your hand can't hold the scope steady enough to evaluate the trichs. :D

I'll have harvest pics when I'm done...probably later this month.

Day 51 or 52.

The OPN's are well past the Stoney Girl prognostication of faster finishing times. The trichs are pretty much all cloudy with a few ambers on the shorter ones. The plan is to chop probably Sat. morning on these two plants. Actually I'm kind of sick of looking at this bastard of a plant.

The other "regular looking" ladies are getting there. Probably another two weeks for them. Here is Marilyn who is 2nd or 3rd place as far as height.

The fan leaves are turning color, and every plant is staked...some more than once. My pard has some drying cage he converted...has to do with screen racks, pizza shelving and Uranium Yellow-cake.

I'll be back with the harvest pictures and dry weights.

Day 57 and turning her beautiful fall colors. Contrary to the OPN's, the Moby Dick strain has been a decent plant. Her and her sister mirror images of each other and their yields will probably be within grams of each other. Ali is about 2 inches taller however.

Later I'll post all the harvest pics when done, but those mangy OPN's dry weighed out to a total of 3 1/2 oz. Just about what I predicted. I'm thinking about another week for these...many cloudy trichs, with mild to moderate resin production.

What are these girls looking like dry, Luther? And the rest of those beauties? Let me know, buddy! Hope we can get together and smoke a little homegrown sometime! Hope all is well!

i thought it was just a vibration from the exhaust fan.

There was power involved in the sound...omnious...foreboding.

I had guests for two nights and I didn't check, so as to not draw attention.

LOCUSTS, or some form of them ate everything that had a bud or a leaf. There is larvae under the removable drain thing.

wtf

I was just shittin' ya.

Still growing, swelling some with resin production. The trichs are 20% amber...maybe more. They "look" like they need some more days. Maybe a midweek chop. Those OPN's weighed out dry around 2 1/2 oz total. that strain will never see the inside of my tent again. The high from it was actually powerful for a mild tasting marble. They have been curing in a couple of jars and the humidity is slowly dropping. Currently they are at about 64%RH. Just a little more... If aliens land in my backyard and demand choice ganja then I'll probably NOT give them the OPN.

Next pics are when the fat lady sings.

Hahaha, very funny. Nice to hear things are moving along. That is too bad about OPN, that is a stoney girl, right? No worries, though. On my first grow, I had some Big Bud that smelled and tasted like hay, and some Mazar that got way to Sativa-ee for my room, stretching all over the place. I was too dainty with them to tie them down and prune properly. If not for the Ice coming out beautifully, I would have thought I had totally failed....haha. The Ice showed me that I had potential, and my yields steadily improved, especially once I figured out which Ice plants were the best producers, etc. I probably would have had better results, but I HAD to do it the hard way, and I did not take clones of proven strains from friends......I set out to make my own mark on what medicine was available to patients.....but it really does take a while to sniff out 3-4 strains, and find a couple good mothers, if you are a picky bastard like me.

I cannot wait for the fat lady to sing. For your next batch, do you have any idea what you are going to continue with? I actually have an extra plant, from seed, of Vanilla Kush. I may be willing to part with it if you are interested. I just did not have enough room under my lights, and it will be too big by the time I get another group ready. It was an ugly duckling to start, but has filled out nicely, just has "the claw" look to it. Been that way out of the seed. Let me know.

Hope things are going well! Hope the aliens leave a little for us Oregonians to try out!

I would only be able to raise the VK if she's super small. We've got clones in veg right now, waiting to weed out the weaker ones.

Yes, Stoney Girl is the OPN breeder. Thing had huge fan leaves that grew straight up like celery. I am tasting a light flavor of grape with the added curing. I've been reading about other strains and checking seed prices and availability. But this next batch will be all clones we did. I'm a big fan of Trainwreck and Super Lemon Haze, so hopefully I'll have a happy, PM free, climate for them.

She is topped at about a foot, and has a canopy diameter of about 15 inches. Let me know if you are interested. She is ready to flower now, she will just be too big by the time my batch is done. I used to run across a TON of Trainwreck back in the day, in Ashland. Loved that shit. I would be into flowering SLH, but I understand she flowers for 12 weeks. Who were you thinking about ordering from?

Actually, it is day 64. Well according to my trusty (haha) 30x scope, about half the trichs are amber. I checked top to lower buds and it is really hard to give a percentage, but all of these babies are getting chopped WEDNESDAY. Leaves are dying off and turning yellow.

Probably load up the ladies in my truck and roll to my pards house Wed. afternoon. I won't have to put a brown bag over their heads like I did the OPN's. :-P

I'll be out of the Cannabliss white widow by tomorrow morning and I'll be grinding up OPN by noon.

And Hazo...checked again with my buddy and your VK is just too large. Had it been a regular clone I would have jumped on it. Thank you anyway.

edit: The cola in the background is to "Ali" another Moby Dick.

No worries, man. She will find a good home! Looks like you are ready to go with these girls.....looking very nice.... some donkey dick buds there, bro. And, yes, these are girls you will want to look at while you enjoy them, huh? hahaha. Good stuff! Congrats!

Today is chop down day, but not at the Luth compound. I will be loading up my truck with these sticky, pungent and ripe tomato plants and driving north and into SE Portland for the harvest.

I will have firepower.

I will be a hit at traffic lights.
