Well, was a quick learn for me im going to post this for reference.View attachment 4409497
Let me know if you guys agree. Comment if you use ppm or ec and why. Love this community. Think im going to start using RO water soon. My hydro store guy advised against it but, he doesnt have a meter lol!!!
I use ppm because it’s easy and that’s how I learned most people I learned from use. I think that your hydro store guy is a complete moron and doesn’t no shit. I advise you no longer ask him for advice. I have never used EC for anything. The bubbling water ppm difference Is probably because it’s not stable water. And as I just found out your PPMs will also be off if you measure in cold refrigerator temp water. So I think stable room temp calm water consistently stable with no temp or bubble fluctuations is best for reliable ppm meter readings.

I prefer ec over ppm

Watch the YouTube video I posted on the last page, it's all ec, the meters just convert ec measurements to ppm or tds.

Will display both for now EC and PPM. Im leaning toward EC for measurement from what i read its better. Explosive growth from the plant today I can probably say its officially out of the seedling stage and into veg. Responded very well to the light change. Super happy just waiting on that flora nova now.15714453246954538261098221485279.jpg15714453702928842922236410583657.jpg

Looking good so far wind, here is a really informative video that explains what is; pH, ec, TDS and ppm in how it relates to hydroponics. Definitely worth watching, I learned a bunch of things I didn't know from it.

Thank you very much for this very informative for sure. I think i will be using the EC side of things for now. I will post both but i like that everything is derived from EC so it makes sense to me to use that.

I more than agree with you that my hydroguy is a moron. I have learned more off you guys than anyone else and sometimes i talk about the advise you guys provide me with and he says its all bullshit. But he also didnt think a waterfarm was a good idea. So now he is just my supplier i wasnt really asking him too much he came off stupid along time ago. My friends arnt into growing so i thought putting this up would help and im fortunate to have met you guys ( the doc, Goldd, jzs) im greatful for you guys having the patience to teach me. I will keep an eye on the ppm and ec for now. Im going to do a rez change so that will be easier to benchmark.

She looks so cute! The growth is amazing! You are doing such a wonderful job and I’m so impressed by your work ethic and devotion. No doubt you are a top performer in everything you do.
I’m curious about how you hang your light. No little ratchet strings...... For easy adjusting?
I use the large mountain clinging hooks around my ceiling poles and then connect the adjustable string light hooks to the light . Then you just release the metal hold on the clamp and adjust the string to any height you like in seconds.
have a fantastic day off !

Rez change
Flora nova came today.
Put in 3 and a half gallons into the rez
Plain water was at 194 ppm.
.3ec.
Im switching to the micro ec instad of millimeters for better readings. So after this will all be in 100.
Added 6ml of flora nova. Im just going to take it easy to start. Put in 5ml of calmag as well.
Temps 19.4
Rez 16.2
Ec at 998 (almost 1)
Ppm at 494.
Ph at 6.8 adjusted to 5.5
Also 10ml of H202.
Final ec 950
Ppm at 450
I expect fluctuations while the water settles from being bubbled.
Found some white slime on the black pump hose. Cleaned with h202. Hopefully the algae battle isnt beginning yet will consider a chilling but will watch for now. Top bucket inspection:15716184640807680322658796809773.jpg
Plant has small deficiency, new growth a little light green compared to rest. probs due to lack of nitrogen and or calmag ive researched that white rhino is prone to calmag so i will watch it (pics not very good to see)

Top hydroton looks clean no signs of algae. Holy shit roots already out the bottom15716187503517423103139765205999.jpg

Top rez a little dirts washing out15716188296745354440430262884564.jpg

Ordered another mehezi light today 2 600w which is really going to be around 500 for the 2 should brighten up the place. Fuck algae. That is all. Lol

I use what came with the light lol15716196327544621513820665023014.jpg

That little adjustable string. Works good but i dont think i have the room in my tent anymore to use it. My top rez sit on a small table the light is 24 inches from the top of plant and its maxed out!!! I only have 52 inches from the bottom of table to top of tent and my waterfarm takes up space!! Im going to tyrap and take out the adjustable thingy tomorrow and raise it as far as i can go. I ordered another light because i think with the scrog and hight i will need it to fill up the tent. Let the games begin lol

Just FYI.. there is no deficiency there new growth will often be light green as it’s not had a chance to produce chlorophyll. Remember less is better. Don’t jump to conclusions and start adding more nutes and burn the roots.. everything is fine.
Lol thanks SCOTTY. I didnt add lots to begin with today and just gave it a shot of calmag with the new rez change. i am trying not to jump to conclusions i try to stick with the less is more rule and take a page out of your book. I didnt know that so thank you. I just got flora nova today. Ill stick to that and go slow, measure PPM's and just learn. You just want it to go off no problems you know? Lol you know...

Bought some airline today im going to put in an airstone as an experiment to see if it cools the rez. Winter here is coming and eventually i wont able to use the window when its -30 (-22 f). Looks good though. Ppm a bit up but i put in some ph adjuster so next time ill take it first before the measurement. I cheated earlier today and it was around 490. I think i got a bunk reading from my "final reading" of 450 it was 490 to start with. Fat leaves tho EH?

Looking great

You should mix your nutes, let it settle for an hour then adjust your ph, let it settle for an hour, take another reading etc. until you get it stable at 5.8 then add it to your res. Your initial ph reading isn't a true reading, it needs to settle to get a true reading, same with ec. I always start my nute solution a day before I'm gonna swap out the res or for add back to get it stable before going in the res.
