The Truth About Obama and Welfare Reform

Back in Clinton's era, he and Gingrich worked on welfare reform. They agreed that welfare was needed, but stipulations should be added onto those hand outs. One of the provisions they agreed on was that recipients could only be on welfare for a maximum of 1 year. Compromise.

Well, years later, some republican governors are asking to be excluded from that provision. They have said that they have better ways to manage welfare in their states. Obama said OK. He granted them their wish to be excluded from some federal provisions, one of them being the one that allowed welfare recipients to stay on welfare for a maximum of 1 year. Again. They asked him. The said they had better ways to do it. He, in the spirit of not being a partisan a-hole, granted these republican governors their wish.

Now, the most recent attack on Obama, is that he has eliminated the federal provision in the law that says you can only receive welfare for 1 year... Allowing people to stay on welfare for as long as they want. Lazy people can now stay on welfare forever. They also point out that Clinton, a democrat, enacted these reforms... and now this guy is destroying them. See democrats... you can't trust Obama either.

It is a total lie by Mitt Romney. This man will say anything, lie about anything, and try to be anyone in his quest for power.

You really are mentally handicapped aren't you?

Seriously, are you incapable of reading comprehension or is it your racist fueled hate for the man that clouds over fact?

Man Obama team has been called out on about 6 blatant lies so far, he and he team are just making up shit from not paying taxes to a women's cancer death. We're about two elections away from fake Photoshops of candidates in tootoo's and Nazi tattoos. To be fair, Romney asked to keep it on the economy and jobs and it's clear Obama didn't wanna, he just want to do a name calling finger pointing campaign so now he has to deal with it. Think its bad now wait till the 27 when Mitt can start spending real money.

You missed the part where it says that if the states cannot shift 20 percent of their welfare roles off of welfare that the Feds will withdraw the waiver. Obama is not destroying welfare to work and it is, again, the GOP that cannot be trusted to tell the truth.

Yeah, just wait until Romney can spend real money on his outright lies. A lie backed with enough money, retold often enough will become ingrained in the public conciousness and that is exactly what Romeny is depending on. Case in point is his lie that Obama is trying to keep the Military in Ohio from voting. Not only is he lying but, true to Republican form, he is using our military to do so.

That's exactly what Obama is doing now! Democrats are getting nervous though, he isn't raising enough money and spending it way to fast. He is pumping millions into negative add blitzes that isn't giving a good return for the money. Romney has more money on hand already and Obama is on his 197th fundraiser since he announced his re-election campaign.

I am going to be honest I didn't think Romney had a chance and its still early but he has far more popularity(or anti-Obama popularity) than I expected. At this point he has a chance to win this. You are semi-correct, you will see a lot of adds from Romney but you're incorrect about content. I am sure it will be replays of Obama's 2008 campaign repeated over and over again and facts shows shortly after.

Obama needn't lie,in fact few of his ads that I've seen have been lies, where many of Romney's have. All Obama needs to do is air 10 seconds "where are your tax records Mr. Romney?"

As well as Romneys tax records will be release 2 days before election......
If so, it will likely cost him the election. You will be right in essence, it will be akin to the birthers, except that Romney will lose because Obama will pound on it every single day. This has already gone a month and Romney can't seem to change the public dialog. He wants it to be about the economy but he can say or do nothing to have it be anything but his tax records.

Reid simply perpetuated it. Do you think that perhaps there are others in a week or so who won't do the same thing? And then again, and then again?

What I see is Obama has spend 100million on advertising and hasn't change the political landscape now leaving Romney with a money advantage. If all he talks about is tax returns for 3 month he will lose I am sorry but we have a lot more problem than changing to rules mid election for Mitts taxes. Most think Obama is making it personal to avoid his record and his empty promises.

Its already started....

Perhaps he is avoiding his record, primarily because the right simply don't like what he has accomplished and know that Obama will never be able to explain to the public how the right has blocked or distorted most of his efforts.

The longer Romney avoids the tax return issue the more he looks like someone who is not who he claims to be.

Now Romney could change the direction of the national mindset if he showed us his economic plan, but he isn't doing that either
"trust me" is about all he has to offer, and he doesn't look very trustworthy to me. "trust me" from a guy who led a blind man into a wall as a joke.

Thanks to citizens united, Romney and his billionaire friends (this is a literal statement) have out raised Obama every month. Its Romney who has the most money in this campaign. Romney is spending the most.... and Romney hasn't been able to change the political landscape in this election. I don't know if you know this... and I don't want to count my chickens before they've hatched... but Obama has like a 9 in 10 chance of winning this election. Romney's only hope is that enough voters can be suppressed in ohio and florida... end elsewhere.

Also... give me one idea of mitt romney's... on any issue. He hasn't said anything in this campaign except Barack Obama is bad. Then he'll call him Obama nazi or a socialist for implementing his (romney's) healthcare plan.

What? Obama has spend twice as much as Romney burning through his cash fast. I think it was a bad choice for Obama to blow through all that cash during Olympics we still have 3 months.

His tack is to address Romeny lies with (well, at times other lies) a counter as soon as possible, usually it is done between news cycles and it seems to be working, He is not letting Romeny up for air. If he runs out of money then it will be a problem, but I believe in this case it is better not to let the cement of undeicded opinion set

Word is not only did Romney not pay taxes he actually got refunds of over 5 million a year. No wonder he doesnt want to release them.
