The Teabaggers, GOP, and Conservatives and weed?

I've often been told that the GOP, Conservatives, and the Teabaggers are freedom loving Constitutionalists and have wholeheartedly embraced individual freedom. So why is it they are against Marijuana and continuing the drug war? Why do they proclaim to be about small government but demand to tell me what I can do with my body via the criminality of drugs and their obvious hatred of abortion?

I know Obama is a hypocrite when it comes to marijuana. It is shameful and the left should hammer him for it. The raids that took place in California are hypocritical and shameful.

But what about the right wing? Why haven't they worked toward legalization? Why don't they hammer Obama on it and bring it out nationally?

I'm pretty conservative, I voted against re criminalization in 90, and for legalization in 2004. I am for the legalization of all drugs. That's a broad brush your painting with. I will agree the GOP are a bunch of freedom hating nut jobs, they lack any intellectual honesty. The GOP would be gone, if the dems didn't act the same way.

I find as a conservative I side with the left on a lot of issues. But with republicans almost never, go figure.

The republican party is really two parties shoved into one. You have the right wing wacko fundamendalist christians and then you have the pragmatics who are republican because libertarians don't stand a chance of winning.

Because of this fundamental schism the party can't get it's shit together and put up a decent candidate. They come up with Romney who was an attempt to pander to both sides. Of course anyone who can please both halves of the republican party is going to be a piece of shit who will never pull independants. The republicans stood a chance of winning against Obama with Ron Paul but they were too gutless to allow it. You see the only way the republicans can win now is to pull votes from the Democrats and Independants. Ron Paul could do that but Romney was totally polarizing.

Neither party wants to be the one to let weed get legalized because both parties have half their members against it. It won't be until the republican party splits and the libertarian half draws enough independants and democrats to win that there will be a mandate strong enough to legalize.

To simplify that... half the democrats don't want weed. Half the republicans don't want weed. If you take the two halves that do and put them into power things finally change.

Kervork, pretty good analysis. Both parties are controlled by their respective extremes. Neither party has any interest in anything except being in power, consequently both parties do things detrimental to the country.

Nice analysis?

He said Rawn Pawl could've won, that calls into question the validity and accuracy of the rest of his statement.

Got done watching Lincoln.

Whatever happened to THAT Republican party?
They feel threatened by non-white folks, women, and non-Christians. And they realize they cannot win elections based on their platform because it is ridiculous and designed to benefit corporate persons rather than real people.

Umm. No.

If anything the democrats fear non-whites. That is why they put free abortion clinics in high black areas, to control population. Also why they support Affirmative action and scholarships based on the color of your skin. To get the black vote so they can further cripple and control them.

If everyone was "Equal" you wouldn't need affirmative action.

The only people who should recieve "special treatment" are those who are truly crippled. Be it mentally or physically.

Ron Paul would have beat Obama hands down. Obama promised change, Ron Paul would have delivered change. We would all be smoking legal weed right now.

You have to win the popularity contest to be president. Ron Paul didn't get enough positive press and didn't have a catchy slogan.

He was boxed out from the start. Sad, but true.
