Assuming you planned your setup properly, all issues (other than bugs) can be fixed or prevented by using less of everything. When you see problems your first step is to always take everything away not add more. Step one for troubleshooting any problem is to flush with plain water and wait at least 24 hours before doing anything else. Usually that will fix the issue. To keep your mind occupied during the 24 hour period you can diagnose by looking at pics online. The other plus side of flushing and waiting is that if it doesn't fix your problem you have the knowledge gained by researching and a clean medium to work with. One more thing, look up the usage of hydrogen peroxide, your roots will thank you.
