The strength of Clones vs Mothers...

Okay, I'm not an expert yet going on two years of growing indoors and feel I'm doing great.

Here's a question for you... right now I have a fem WW going and a fem Bubbalicious going. I take cuttings off of them (around 3 or 4 each) before I submit the mother to flower. By then she's already six weeks old. Then I grow the cuttings of each plant to produce 3 more cuttings before I put that mother into flower.

What are your thoughts on this? The potency seems to pass with each plant.

Should I keep the mother vegging forever? My gut says no. Let her pass some cuttings then into flower and harvest.

Both work. Some people change their moms every cycle of new clones, and use the new clones for moms. Some do 2 or 3 grows. I know a lot of people on here keep them until then find something better. Ive heard of genetic breakdowns over a long period of time of taking a clone of a clone of a clone for a long time. I haven't seen it happen in a few years of keeping a mom. I think its easier to keep a bigger mom. Less chances of dyeing and you can pull more clones off them faster

The potency differences between mothers and clones is negligible up to the 20th generation according to the MMJ Grow Bible. IMO, just do perpetual grows and clone continuously off one mom and flower the clones after they veg for awhile. Harvest another batch while the first clones are flowering and veg them. Sell a few clones off the side to help cover costs of the crop before a harvest.
