The Significance of the Flag

There is a reason that the Flag is so important. The reason is maritime law. Whatever flag you are in the presence of determines what laws you consciously or unconsciously subject yourself to be judged under.

Pirates flew their own flags which meant they followed their own rules. If you walk into a court room in the United States you will be in the presence of a United States military flag. This means you are subject to the maritime law or commerce laws. This means, whether you know it or not, that you can be tried under maritime law, not civil law. This also means that laws passed by lawmakers like Congress do not apply to you in said courtroom.

I'm not an expert on all of this...I have done my fair share of research. I would encourage all of you that love freedom and independence to do your own research.

Try googling "american civil flag" and see what pops up.

The more knowledge I gain the more I'm beginning to understand why the American flag gets burned by people.

O.K. - everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I used to believe the flag stood for something positive...I think differently now days. In my opinion this country was built on corruption & greed...this land was stolen remember? Would you like it if I came to your property, beat you down, & took your land? I didn't think so.

You're assuming that I'd stand there like a bitch and let you. Instead I'd probably ask to be allowed to introduce you to my little friend.

Besides, seeing as how the land is "stolen" according to you. Why the fuck are you still here, shouldn't you be going back to wherever you came from if you feel so badly about it.

Flags are insignificant!

I was raised under the old south african flag, and it was held with as much veneration as some of you have now for the US flag... (obviously not by all).

Then we had this whole transformation debacle... and got a new flag (some say it looks like mandela's y-fronts)... and were told how evil the old flag is. Which in fact was jsut a collection of historical flags even of those nations who oppressed and waged war against the afrikaners.

The result I saw the game for what it was... I no longer care for any flag.

I would bet that if a large group of people came onto your land with guns and you had no 'little friend' to back yourself with..you would get slaughtered and your land would be stolen from your lifeless body..kind of like the Indians

We all come from in-existence into existence and we will return from where we came from..but feeling badly about a nation that was established by murdering all the natives is definitely not a bad thing, in fact i'd say its human nature to feel sympathetic towards people who have been wronged

Nah, China would lose far far more than they gain.

You have to remember Med, that if they do anything stupid that they'll have the world's largest economy pissed at them, and the rest of the world looking at them a bit warily.

If they do anything negative, there's only one word that needs to be uttered, Boycott.

Next thing you know, all the goods will be manufactured in other places, besides China, and they'll be stuck trying to rebuild market share in a country that actively ignores their goods.

While being raised as a Jehovah's Witness, I was taught the flag was a false idol.I have since rejected Christianity in any form,but I do still believe the flag is just a symbol.Some folks need it, some don't.

Last time I bought new pants was six months ago, it was like $15/each. Cargo Slacks. I don't care for jeans, and don't have a job where they offer any additional benefits over slacks.

Yeah, basically, it's shorts for me, even in the snow (Yeah it actually snowed in Vegas yesterday, What's this about global warming?) unless I have to go to some shindig like the grandkids school play or the church christmas play. Being retired does have it's perks, like no stinking dress code. Shorts and a T shirt for grampa.

Everybody says the flag don't mean nothing. Just symbolic. I used to feel that way until I stopped seeing the American flag around and started seeing the Mexican flag everywhere I look. A flag definitely means something...like this is my land. I got nothing against Mexicans, I just don't speak spanish, yet. Now I kind of like the darn thing, the old stars and stripes. I don't want to learn another language

Up here in Ohio some Global Warming would be welcome right now. The rain was freezing onto the vehicle windows as it was falling. I must have had to scrape like half an inch of my windows two nights ago.

Then there was the snow, which is a first that I've seen in December, up here (Dayton), but this is just my third winter up here.

I also heard from a friend in ABQ that they are getting snow, the last time they got snow would have been in 96. She was also bitching about icy roads, which from my time in Albuquerque is even rarer than snow.

You know the guys in the coffins must have thought the flag was special. I hope they're right for their families sake.

People don't fight for a flag, they fight for ideals, for themselves, or for their friends and families.

The flag is nothing more than a symbol.

Of course, right now (and for the last century) it's been nothing more than the symbol of a corrupt government that has been granted an invitation by fools to run roughshod over the principles of the nation it is supposed to be running, and the documents that define the scope and limitations of their powers.

I love our American Flag! I don't idolize it or worship it but it is near and dear to my heart; I love seeing Old Glory waving in the wind. Brave men and women throughout our history have fought to earn and keep our independence and freedom. I see our flag and I'm reminded of how lucky I am to have been born here.

Every Country on the planet has good people and bad people. No Country's history is without black marks, including ours, but I love our Country and our flag.

I fly mine on Washington's Birthday, Lincoln's Birthday, Memorial Day, Labor Day, 4th of July, Vertans Day, Flag Day and if I like our current President I fly it on his birthday.
