The R4 has recently been tested at over 20% assayable CBD and less than 1% THC

Looks like their moving fast on the CBD improvement .
Greenwerkz, a Colorado cannabis company, today announced the release of their leading CBD strain, named the R4, will be available for both patients and the medical marijuana community beginning next month, free of charge.
Their program will allow patients as well as medical marijuana centers to grow the R4 for patients under the following conditions:

  • The strain, in its natural form, is not resold as seed or clone form but may be freely given away to others
  • The end product, in bud form, is not sold for more than $15 per eighth
  • Any strains created by hybridizing the R4 would be available to Greenwerkz in clone form free of charge.

The R4 has recently been tested at over 20% assayable CBD and less than 1% THC content by weight and Greenwerkz has made concentrated forms testing over 79% CBD.
“We believe that this strain provides wonderful attributes to both patients and growers.” said Kelly Roller, Greenwerkz’ VP of Cultivation. “We have had many patients who come in just for the R4. It really does provide a lot of patients pain relief, without the cerebral/psychoactive ‘high’ typically associated with cannabis, and we wanted to share that with the community”, Roller added.
High CBD strains have been shown to treat chronic pain and conditions associated with tremors as well as provide appetite stimulation which can be critical to treatment and recovery.
Please visit Greenwerkz table at the upcoming Cannabis Cup for information packets and R4 seeds as well as the website www.greenwerkz.com for more information as the program rolls out.

Interesting.. very interesting. I just read one of their info pages...

"The R4 has recently been tested at over 20% assayable CBD and less than 1% THC content by weight and Greenwerkz has made concentrated forms testing over 79% CBD."

some forms testing over 79% CBD with less than 1% THC ... what the hell are they doing to the plant?

The extracts with 79% cbd surely have more than 1% THC. Pretty hard to quadruple the cbd concentration and not the THC.

I was figuring that it was off in terms of the 79% and less than 1%, figured I'd mention that as I've never ever heard of such a thing and am always learning new stuff here on RIU. Thanks for that =)

I wonder how consistent the high CBD pheno will be...

Cannatonic (which has been around for years) has a ultra high CBD pheno with a 20:1 CBD to THC pheno but it seems to be really hard to come by and you would never even know it unless you lab test your meds. Here is an example of 17 different Cannatonic females grown from seed and had their flowers tested, the cannabinoid profile range is extreme to say the least. Anywhere from 26.7% THC / 0.36% CBD to almost the complete opposite with 1.16% THC / 19.8% CBD.

Exactly, people will be selling the high CBD pheno clones for an much as they can. About a year ago here in Michigan people were selling "Cannatonic #4" clones for $400-$800 each.

How long ago was that video with Scott made?

I have a 5 pack of shark shcok fem beans from the CBD crew(resin seeds/Mr.nice collaboration). They are guaranteeing every pheno will be of high cbd 4% or more the average being 6%cbd- 6%THC. I don't have room at any of my grows to start new beans right now but will get to it soon.

I'd give it a try. I love indicas for my back pain and being functional during daylight, especially in edible form(loop hole in their terms too).

Friday :) brand new project. I took him some cannatonic #4 pollen that a friend of mine reversed. Scott has learned proper cbd breeding techniques from the cbd crew in Spain, and this project should show that. If our estimates are correct, this project should produce 50%+ offspring with the high cbd trait. No more searching through 2-3 packs of seeds to find it. Should be able to find multiples in one pack from this line. All tests and everything will be documented online by river rock and rare dankness.

This has been a plan for a while, I first talked to Scott about it in September. It was a matter of acquiring proven high cbd strains to work with. Sit back and watch a new wave of medicinal strains pop off!

Sounds quite solid, looking forward to reports/results of this... would love to see extremely high CBD to whip up salves/lotions with for family that's available in Michigan. Wish they'd ship R4 to Michigan so we didn't have to run out there and grab clones.

How does one find a good lab for testing their medicine?
Good question, although I'm from Michigan.. only know of Cali ones from other discussions had. (That are solid/reputable, anyway.) Am sure that R D has some solid info on this though.

love the idea but how do you get seeds from a clone with out shocking it with light to hermie? they dont want it sold as seed but will there be seed given away? not all of the patients will be able to keep a clone alive just for a mother.

this sounds good if my Otto #1 doesnt produce the amounts that I want.

"Otto #1 produces three gross chemotypes, each expressing varying ratios of CBD to THC, some as high as 27:1. Chemotypes have tested as high as 11.4% CBD-A with corresponding THC-A of <0.40%. Other chemotypes testing with CBD:THC ratios closer to 2:1 are present in this seed lot as well. Approximately 28% of plants expressed low CBD (< 0.18%)."

The high CBD numbers arent there like canna, or r4, but the ratio is just amazing.

Agreed, as long as the lab that's doing the testing doesn't take bribes from breeders and is reputable, looks like a damn solid strain to work with :D
