So the question is after having some sort of argument today with someone that seems to be a pro after reading google a few times which anyone can do....are the serious people on here actually there to give and receive advice of some sort?? Thanks

I never signed up to give new growers advice but to be around those that can already grow and want to talk over more than just the basics.

I ran the gauntlet like any new poster but i did most of the learning myself and had already completed a few grows before i felt confident to hang with those that took this stuff seriously.

I do however repeat the same basics on how to set up and get growing, the fact that most want to overcomplicate stuff is their own personal goals not mine.

It is dissapointing that many of those you consider pros really arent close to the science on heat light and simple stuff, many took a big hit when ppfd was explained properlyvto their led copy and paste stuff.

You come here at your own risk :-)

I'm always interested in helping those who want to help themselves but the lack of effort by so many that just post to elicit a response are tiring
There is a search feature for yellowing leaves caused by a deficiency ...
It is a shit time of the year when we have to answer questions about "is it done" when the whole country is waiting on outdoor grows to magically speed up LOL
My point is even helpful good growers get fatigued , Capiche'?

Hope your day was better than mine and both our tomorrows are outstanding

There are plenty of serious people on here. It's just that those that have been growing for thirty years or more get annoyed when they give advice to people with a grow or two under their belt after having bought a blurple light and the complete line up of advanced nutrients who now think they're experts telling them they're wrong.

Truth, but there's also a fair deal of set-in-ways crotchety-ness that can be had amongst old heads.
Many paths to the same goal, and we all have our own perspective on the matter.

There are some pro's here still have green cotyledons on their first grow. A couple google searches, maybe read a thread or two and they got it figured out. Usually piss and moan when they're called on giving bad info so they're easy to spot usually.

Too many newer growers think every solution comes out of a bottle with a fancy label. They don't realize that many of their problems stem from using those bottles with fancy labels. It's a plant and can be grown like any other plant. There is a belief among many that cannabis is some special plant that needs special things to grow. They don't stop and think that it's a plant that has been cultivated for over a thousand years. Long before Advanced Nutrients and every other overpriced nutrient company on the planet.

Its why I feed a single part nutrient, provide the plants the most optimal environment as I can and let them do their thing.

True, it is a plant.and almost every nute company says you need everything we sell to make it grow. MJ is not like any other plant I've grown. Every plant I have grown has a, for lack of a better term, personality. Even clones off the same mother, will behave different. One will love nutrients, one wont. One doesn't mind lst, one it stress' the hell out of. I love rock music, but most of the plants I've grown don't. I have had better results ( god I hate saying this ) when they listen to country. It is a plant, but it is a far cry from being just a plant. I have discovered that I am addicted to it. Not smoking it, but growing it. If I had to choose between the two, I honestly think that I would quit smoking. I even posted a poem I wrote about this in the inspired art's section.

normally, when I am asking someone who is way more knowledgeable than me for help, I try to be a little more humble in my asking, just saying.

I've just read the thread you are complaining about. You got something wrong, didn't like it and then started calling people names before picking a winner for a #wanker trophy.

Then you post your own topic to suggest ''serious'' growers around here are not trying to help. Firstly, you don't have to be good to be a serious grower, secondly, can I get a trophy?. Aka drop your ego and lighten up.

I would say don't put everyone in the same box, everyone has good days and bad ,some want to help some don't or don't have time. No one owes anyone anything. That being said the growing world is much more generous with their time and advice than any other trade I have ever known of.

Also how the forum is set up seems to bury questions very quickly

Basicly when the same question has been asked over and over........

Theres a search function on here, as well as google.

They demand the world and complain about the help.

As Herb and Suds alluded to, is it a case that people aren't willing to help or that people don't want to keep providing answers that are readily available due to the frequency with which they are asked?

My experiences have been that more often than not people genuinely want to help other people...however, people like helping people who genuinely need the help... as in its complex or the information is not readily available.....yet those same people get frustrated when repeatedly asked the same question by different people who could easily have found the answer within 5 minutes of looking for it. If you expect the respect of assistance then you also need to respect those you ask help of, particularity their time.

this is a pretty popular forum that has been around for ages, do you think there are a lot of questions a new grower would ask that don't already have dozens of threads asking that question and likely a sticky thread with thousands of posts on the topic?

Or most simply put... if you're not even willing to spend a few minutes searching the forum to help yourself, how do you expect a stranger to help you more than you're willing to help yourself?
