your using the incorrect MH lamp type for your ballast, fyi... see the blackening on the arc tube?

check the ansi code on the lamp and make sure it matches the ansi code for the ballast. a m59 lamp is good for a m59 ballast. something isnt right there unless that lamp has ran for a good 30-40k hours....

hmm, thanks dude, plz elaborate.. Its def. The right ballast but it has the option for 120 or 240 volts i have it on 120.. The bulb is old and not mine. How do you know from the pic that its wrong? Thank dude!

nevermind its the hps ballast that has the option of 120 or 240.. but im curious y you think its wrong cause its def. the correct ballast. Im sure the bulb has been used to at least 3 grows already. Is it time to get a new one?

CAUSES OF BLACKENED ARC TUBE

INCORRECT BALLAST - Check and compare data on ballast and fixture nameplate ANSI rating. Verify lamp matches ballast type. (not all MH ballast are the same. there are 2 kinds, pulse start and probe start)

PARTIALLY SHORTED BALLAST- Check electrically for shorted ballast. Check multi-tap ballast to ensure correct tap is used for incoming voltage.

OVERWATTAGE OPERATION- Check ballast and fixture rating for lamp type and wattage. Check operation for correct voltage
and current at socket terminals.

OVERHEATED ARC TUBE- Possibly caused by reflector focusing heat energy back onto the arc tube. Repositioning the
lamp in the reflector may correct the condition. Check for shorted capacitor.

i really appreciate the good advice dude. I rarely get it anymore I guess Ill have to swap it out for the other hps for the time being..

prolly just an old lamp. if you have 2 mh lamps, fire up the one you know is good. the bad lamp should have a redder color to it vs. the good lamp

so I came home from work and looked out my garage and what did i see, a pretty little rosemary plant my wife planted this weekend. I thought that was funny as hell since I spent the day reading through this thread. heres some pics. the pot is awesome. i would love to put MJ in every hole. they wouldnt get big individually, but it would prob grow alright.

I think im going to resign from the grow off and just throw it in the garden when I get it tilled...Damn thing bringing gnats into my grow room...

Mine grows pretty damn quick...You just have to pay attention to detail you blind fucker
