You're the reason for this !! lmao
Sure, blame ol' bb57 and madds for this.

Dang FloG, looking good. i'm back from the expedition.
Slayed the Tuna. Damn near sunk the boat. Madds is still pissed.
Bastardo stripped the labs so I'm starting over. In a new location.
Wer'e moving. Renting out the house and the labs. Leaving all the gear
and teens and moms. Fully furnished house and a 560sl thrown in to sweeten the deal.
And of course the Labs.

Got an offer I could not pass up. Trying to talk Madds into joining me. He's playing hard to get
and being stubborn as per norm. Anyone want a slightly used brother? I'll let him go cheap.

I'll keep popping up in here to check on you FloG. Madds ain't letting the Nutes out just yet.

The new set up is frickin huge. I'm talking Godzilla sized, corporate backed.
Someone took notice and offered a dream deal. I'll keep ya up on that too.

Keep growing the good chit mang. I'm on the lowdown.

Cool Waters,
No Light.

Say Madds, I'll be waiting for that nute recipe ! lol

this is an aswome idea. i have to ask since you have been using them and keeping your water temps down have you noticed better growth rate?

Better growth ?
Than soilless ? YES !
Than other DWC attempts ?
Don't know since this is my first.
But I started off correctly too, after the 1st week in a Sterilite Tote.
I truly believe temps play the major roll in ph stability.
I didn't put in a frozen bottle and let my temps go up 10 degrees, to 75F.
My ph was down to 5.1, from 5.8 !
I got my temps back to "normal" and have NOT had my ph fluctuate again !

Also, what appears to be THE most common issue in DWC ?!
WATER TEMPS MOSTLY !
Warm Water causes all the probs to start, beginning with PH fluctuations, then :
Root rot
Nute deficiencies
Nute lock out
Slow growth
Etc...

dont you find trying to get the exact ph you are after is a never ending battle. the more you fuck with ph it gets harder to control. it is best for me just using my tap water.7ph and using it. if i add any up or down it just seems to get to out of wack for me

Although it's common for some ppl to have issues with ph flucts, I don't.
Using RezDog's Recipe of GH Micro (6ml) and Bloom (9ml) on a 1 to 1.5 ratio respectively, pretty much keeps my ppm's at 5.8 as well.

Whatever I set it at, it stays there 99.9% of the time, unless I add more nutes/water that doesn't have matching ph.
Straight up peace of mind...............

Hey Flo Grow, speaking of PH. I scrubbed one of those coolers, still had the same problem. I get the ph down to 5.9, an hour later I'm back to 7. So I scrubbed and rinsed it till I was blue in the face, same problem. So I then set up a test. I filled the same cooler and adjusted the PH to 5.9, and did the same thing with a different type of container. An hour later the the PH in the cooler was 6.9, and the PH in the other container had not changed. So the water is not the problem. I don't know what it is about those coolers, but I suggest that people stay away from the Igloo 5 gallon beverage coolers. They are blue and they are sold at Lowes. There is something in them that causes the PH rise uncontrollably. I'm hoping that you guys have more ideas to solve this, otherwise I've wasted $100 on coolers.

My PH does climb but not that significantly... Your talking a drastic increase. I PH'd my nutrients today down to 5.8 around 4 hours ago they are both around 5.9 right now and will climb to 6.5 probably by tomorrow. I'm using GH nutes which I hear you have to adjust PH a lot more

I don't even have nutes added yet, this is just plain old water.
Well that explains it right there.
Even though I use only R/O water w/ 18 ppm's, I have to adjust it EVERYDAY.
Despite it bubbling 24/7. I drop it to 5.8, and it starts to rise within hours until it settles from 6.9 - 7.2
That's daily again, mind you.
BUT with nutes, it's a completely diff situation.
You didn't waste your doe, my friend. Gotta put some nutes in those puppies.
What is the ppm of that "plain old water" ?
^^^ Whatever it is, you are starting from there as your ppm's rise.
I.E. my tap is 290, and I am at 1090 now. So if I used my tap, I only really added 800ppm's of hydro nutes.

Flo Grow..thank you for the answer. For this new mix I'm using tap. Turns out my TDS meter has been wrong all along. I calibrated it correctly today. My tap is only about 150-170 ppm, at least today anyway. It also has a ph out of the tap of 7.2. I'll mix in some nutes and see what happens, but as fast as the PH is rising, IDK..... Right now anything is worth a try. The reason I really have some doubts is the other container that did not have ph drift, there were no nutes in it as well.

I feel you.
Add some nutes, say to 300 ppm.
Make sure your temps are within range and you have it bubbling non-stop.

Ok....ppm is approximately 300ppm, and ph is about 5.6 or 5.7. It'll take about one hour from now. If that didn't work then in one hour I expect that the Ph will be around 6.4 - 6.7. (crosses fingers)

OK...
one hour ago:
ppm approximately 300
PH 5.6 or 5.7

temp 69.6F
ppm 300
PH 5.9

Now
temp 69.6
ppm 300
PH 5.9

There is light at the end of the tunnel. Looks like you may have been right. There was still some drift, but the test an hour ago was not long after adding PH down. so maybe the drift up was that it mix a little better. I'm going to wait another half hour before I say problem solved. What's your opinion?
