The NOT FOR PROFIT CANNABIS COMPANY...
when will one come to Canada....?????
Can no one see the need for this set up.....??
Provide Marijuana to legal patients in a variety of strains....for cost...
The company still provides jobs to the community and tax dollars for the sales etc.....
just the cannabis is priced at the cost to grow it.....usually under 1 dollar a gram....
Please discuss.....

How do you pay your employees and still only charge $1 a gram?

I said costs only...I didn't say 1 dollar per gram...
I said the mmj itself would come in under a dollar....
add wages and materials and misc cost....
If all totaled came out to 2 or 3 bucks then at least the employees get a decent wage...
patients possibly get some good meds...at a price that's at least not so restrictive.....

they will have three different strains to choose from, OG Kush, purple kush, Master Kush. All for $5 a gram. They will also have concentrates and edibles as well.

That's a good point Dan. With what these LP's are raping people for $$$$ ka ching.......how come all we here about is the minimum wages the workers get paid working there. There have been a few comments on this board about folks who know some one who works there etc. And then they usually say " but they only make minimum "
So I guess the LP's fuck their own workers over too by keeping them at poverty wages as well. Despicable bastards. Jeez, reminds me of Tim Horton's who only pay the least they can too. They make money and then cheap out on wages for the employee's doing the work. So I guess the LP's modeled their businesses the same.
Try living on even 12 bucks an hour....hope ya like roaches in your apartment. That's if you can afford an apartment.

The 'cost' of growing it would include "labour, materials etc", obviously. That's what cost is. It's the costs that are incurred in the process of producing the marijuana. When someone sells something at cost, it includes ALL aspects of production, including materials, wages, etc.

Do... ANY of you know how to run a business, is is everyone here on the pogey?

Hardest part is infrastructure costs, to set up a garden large enough to supply a decent amount of people a wide variety of strains, takes a large setup. The infrastructure to do so needs to be in place and paid for before cultivation can begin, along time before revenue starts coming in.

We'll get there though, slowly but surely and well under the $5/g mark too.

Was that really necessary?

Do you read much....???
I was quite clear...on the business model....It included all costs to run the business....just no mark up on the mmj....
Please try and stay within the realm of the topic...rather than trying to pick apart the idea....and start a bickering war...
its not necessary...
maybe you could add something constructive....to the idea....something we may have not thought of for instance.

Which is it? First you said cost, then you said cost doesn't include labour and materials, now you say it does.

Do you actually think the 'cost' of producing marijuana on a large scale can be under $1 a gram? Or will you change the parameters of your claim once again? Get a job, man.

No no, cannadan says it can be done for less than $1 with all those costs included.

There is absolutely no reason it could not be run as a non-profit using volunteer labour, private donations, etc. It happens all the time for all kinds of causes. Those that have the skill and the time may just want to give something back to other patients and a lot of patients would find it therapeutic to garden. Win-win. Charge for the cost of supplies and utilities etc.

Agreed. But that's not what dan said. He specifically referred to paying people good wages.

He did. He also said he would charge enough per gram to cover costs...labour is a cost. You are arguing over what that cost would have to be. If you remove the ridiculous HC rules around growing a plant, your biggest bill will be lights...if you can grow outdoors, it would be next to free. Tending to a garden does not require a full time staff, especially outdoors. I would say UNDER $1 g and still pay a decent wage for the labour you need.

In the first post I said and I quote " just the cannabis is at the cost to grow it. ..."
I am speaking in a hypothetical tense.
I am in no way stating what the actual cost is do you get the premise now dizzy ?
The idea was to discuss that theoretically it can be done this way with no one profiting off the backs of us
