So a friend of mine just finished a grow of mystery weed and the finished product looks great and the high is good as well. But he is still curing and that killer weed smell is just not coming through the way it should because of the hay smell. Now he has hung from the string for a decent number of days laid it on the screen and its in the jars being burped as it should but still the hay smell is there more than the smell we want. We are at a loss as of what to do help would be great. By the way it was a soil grow don't know if that has any Bering at all but any advice or input would be great

I thought the same thing but I know for sure it was hung for a good amount of time but the humidity was a little on the high side but nothing crazy but the stem didn't snap to my knowledge. But any way just let it hang dry more before leaving it on the screen.

I trim my plants down to individual buds before drying which makes them dry kinda quick, like within 4 to 5 days. Then I cure with Boveda Packs. The only time I've noticed a little hay smell or a harsh taste is when I've chopped too early. Even though the buds are pretty potent it was still harvested a little early. I've heard before that early harvesting can leave that hay smell. That could be the problem. And just because the buds still give you a good high doesn't mean you didn't chop too early.

I have seen that. when the genetics of the clone are wore out ... no matter if its dry or cured . the weed still smell like hay. time to get some ting else. its just the genetics . are gone.
