Yeah sorry. I misunderstood what you meant. I thought you were asking in a confusing way which nodes to trim the growth tips off of. Lol. That's why there's other people to step in too. Lol. Sorry. But yeah that's right. Actually I looked at your pic and seen you already have what I was talking about done kind of.

Personally tho. As soon as the new growth top has enough leaf on to support itself. I trim the fan leaves off. But I will try it the other way and see the difference. I do it because it's easier for me to shape and maintain it without them in the way. Has grown fine doing it this way but I know a lot of people do Leave the leaves on for energy for the plant. I just never have yet. Next plant I will try it that way tho.

so you don't need the leafs at all? Where in the plant does the bud form around? Do you need those grow tips or leave at all and just leave the main colas into flowering? I can't seemed to find out where bud forms.

I may have confused you. I'm talking about the fan leaves. I cut them all off on the lower part when I manifold. I think you are doing fine tho.
The fan leaves are what I'm talking about I cut off. In your pic of you plant it looks like you still have a few lower fan leaves on Not a bad thing as I've seen others keep them on to. I just haven't been I've been trimming everything off the lower part of the cola stem. Here's how mine look. The messy looking one is the first one I've done in years like this so I was a bit sloppy. Then my others started looking Better as I went. Keep in mind that these aren't as far along as yours.

And even tho to answer your question we all can type it. But you will know when you see it start to form.
As for your question here's a link that desribes the plant pretty well and where the buds form.

Do you know where exactly the bud starts to form? What would happen if keep on cutting the leaves and just leaving the my main 8 colas. I have leafs but they don't have any grow tips since I keep cutting them. If I keep the main colas and no leaves until it flowers would it still create buds? I'm growing outside and the less leafs the less the smell. I just don't want to get caught.

Let them get 12 to 18 inches tall and then chop them down to the second node.

@FredFlintstoner0420 - sorry I didn't see your question till now. Which strain is it? I always try to find pics of the finished buds to compare the look. I try to let them go as long as possible. They usually just keep getting bigger. When they flop over from the weight is when I harvest. Although the mainliners don't really flop!

Do you have any pics of your antlers?

AOS:

Great pix. No pix of my antlers as I cut my colas down 2 per cut so I could hang them.

They're Cold Creek Kush and Sour Diesel.

Not sure if I posted this or not.

Very nice. Unfortunately one of mine is very lose and airy but also has tons of hair all over the. Buds. The other one is pretty dense already now but is also the one my cats broke a few branches off. So thes one big cola. And one smaller cola. Maybe 1/2oumce dried if that even now. But I quick dried and smoked the stuff that was broke off and to my suprise I really enjoyed the buzz. Taste. Not so much. Still pumped full of nutrients. Stoping Nutes this weekend for two more weeks of flowering. I really hope the other plant gets dense. Atleast more than it is now. It's very airy Even green on the plant its looks and airy. Does anyone know if induced CO2 would help Fattens the calyxes right? So that may help the last few weeks. I'm stopping Nutes so I don't see them getting any more dense j less I use something else. Going to keep giving Molasses until the last 4days or so. I was thinking maybe some Kelp. And co2. Think it will help her dense up at all?

Did you keep cutting the fan leaves until flowering? I don't see any fan leafs just sugar leafs? I have been cutting all my leafs and just leaving the stem and the top of the main colas? Would the plant still produce cannabis even though I keep cutting me leafs off? I was looking at your stuff and it looks great.

I only took fan leaves once a few days before flipping to 12/12.

I started flushing with RO only 15 days before chop.

By the time chop happened, I was naturally losing 5-8 fan leaves per day per plant.

They virtually self trimmed themselves and I might have taken a few still-green fan leaves at the time of taking them down.

I recommend leaving as many fan leaves on for as long as you can get away with tucking them in.

They're your photosynthesis engines, you're only hurting yield by taking too many.

It's easier to cut away a few when absolutely necessary, than to need more little green solar panels that you can never add back.

Tuck, don't cut. Flush for 2 weeks and the plant will naturally drop a ton of fan leaves.

Good luck!

A lot of growers will take all fan leaves 24-48 hours before chop to make trimming easier.

At that time photosynthesis doesn't matter if you're going dark for 24-48 hours before you start cutting plants down.

Very nice indeed. Can't wait until my next flowering cycle. I should already have them in flower but they really aren't ready. Here's a pic of my 10cola. It was a clone that I topped and then it just grew this way and topped itself on both sides kind of. Anyways. I was going to let it veg another 2 weeks but I really really am behind. Could I put it into flower now and still get good yeild from her? Here's a pic
I know it's early. But I'm just wondering what the results would be. I have others coming right behind it so if the yeild isn't a huge one then I don't mind. Just don't want a disaster cus I flower early.

Anyone ever done a hybrid manifold between nugs/nebulas methods?

I'm growing a single Northern Lights plant from seed in a 36x36 space. I had the idea to create a 32 top manifold between the two methods and place it into a 6x6 screen (36 square grid) leaving the corners empty.

The method I came up with creates an 8 top manifold per nugs method, growing the 8 tips out to the 5th node and then topping to get 16 tops. I would leave a two single side branchea on each of the of the 8 original branches at nodes 2 and 4. This would in theory create 3 concentric rings of 8, 8, and 16.

Any ideas on how this will turn out?

A rough sketch

Let me draw up something for you to see quick. It's just like your drawing but a tad different. It may help keep them more organized and uniform Give me a second and I'll edit it into this.

If you A. Either top a little lower. I think it helps keep it more organized and neat. And keep the colas closer to the root system too. But without effecting it negatively. Or B. You deviate from the Manifolding a tiny bit by not trimming that ONE growth where I have the green marks. If you don't trim that off then you would also have 16. But depending on your skill level. They may all grow the same size. Or you may have 8 Main Colas and 8 Secondary Colas that will be a bit smaller. Depends on how you are with training and slowing the Mains down so the secondary can catch up first

Again. Your doing good and it's fine. But if your a bit OCD about keeping it nice and organized and in a nice circle. That's helps.

Edit. I forgot to put a red X on the one. Sorry. Woops
