The Main-Lining Thread

image.jpeg image.jpeg
This is my Sour OG plant. I started from seed and I decided to give main- lining a try and I have 8 colas now , but the problem is that the older nodes are growing more colas aka grow tips. I topped it 3 times to get 8 colas. I have a manifold and I'm growing outdoors using a coco loco soil and kind soil. I don't add nutrients I just water it. I broke a cola earlier but it's recovering fast which I'm glad. Should I cut the other grow tips before they turn into bigger colas? From what I understood I'm only suppose to have the 8 main that I want. I'm it sure that's why I'm here asking the experts for help.

Depending on how much time you've given her to heal after cutting for eight, you should first tie down your mains to train for a flat canopy. You will want to let her recover, gain some size, then clean up lower growth, take clones, and let her rip.

She'll veg till you're ready to flip her to 12's (if growing indoors), at this time you'll have a few days to make one last clean up of any lower growth and that's the majority of the labor! Just be careful not to take too much the second cleaning. The leaves you leave yourself will need to get you through the rest of the grow.

Then it's just maintenance of your pH, nutes, lights, air, and temps... easy enough when you're in love with Mary I guess.

From the pics it looks good. Except one thing I recommend. Cut those fan leaves off now. After your 4 or 8 cola shoots have nice leaves of there own. You can remove those original fan leaves so the new shoots can push forward themselves. I remove them as soon as the cola shoot has its own little pair of fan leaves

Yep. He's right on that subject too.

I didn't even think to say leave time to recover in between topping and trimming or training

Edit. And sorry I sent wrong pic.

Here's the pic of mine. I topped it the third time a few days ago and each cola has its own little set of fan leaves. So I cut the original ones off so these little gals could push on themselves

I'm getting close to the chop on my end.

I'm thinking this coming weekend.

So I do cut the grow tips that are growing in the older nodes and just keep my main? I have a flat canopy, all my colas are growing about the same rate.

Yeah. Some nice medicine there. Wish mine wouldn't have been such a unorganized grow. Lol. I jumped back into it randomly so I guess I should have atleast been more organized so I didn't get plants mixed up and stuff. But I like growing for fun. I just want nice dense buds. Idc how much Qaunity. Qaulity comes with love and knowledge I like the WWxBB cause of how easy the growth shoots pop out and you can really manipulate how she grows well. I'm Aires there's others out there but I just don't have a lot of money for seeds right now Can't wait to try some others on my list tho

Hey guys, sorry to go semi off topic here, but can I get some opinions on how close I am to chopping this mainliner I've got going. I seem to have a problem with harvesting early. I guess overexcitement because I haven't been growing for too long. This is Critical x AK47 at 48 days from the light switch and mainlined from seed. General opinions on how long I have left? Any help is much appreciated. P.S. yes I know ive got some heat stress issues. Its very hot where I live. Another reason why it needs to come down.

I chop based on trichome color.

Clear = too soon
Milky = head high
Milky w/ 5-10% amber = head/body high
15 - 25%+ amber = couch lock

I was at day 52 in that post. My strain has a 9-10 week flower period. So I'm reassessing the situation at day 63 and will either chop or go to 70 days if necessary.

It sucks waiting when you have such beautiful buds , but the reward will be worth it.

Okay. That didn't work, you can see the pix on my 6/14/16 post .
I was able to view your pics. very nice buds indeed. The problem I seem to be having is that when I checked the trichomes ( under 100x scope) 4 days ago (day 44 from switch). Im seeing amber in them already which I feel is way too soon too chop. Still seeing newer healthy white pistils forming and all. This has happened to me on all my grows thus far. Im trying to pinpoint what I am doing that could be causing this, or if I'm possibly putting the wrong part of my bud under the scope? Ive been told sugar leaves possibly turn before the cluster itself??

You'll always have various stages of pistils which is why that's not the best judge of ripeness.

If your strain has a short flower time and you're starting to see amber, you can chop anytime now. Just don't wait too long.

Yea this strain is bred to finish at 50-55 days. Thank you for the replies. Makes me feel a lil more confident about chopping her down this weekend

Cool! I wanna see your nugs all cleaned up when you're done chopping and trimming!
Will do brother. I plan on chopping her down on Sat. or Sun. and hoping to get a nice slow 7-10 day dry, which will be difficult because currently its pushing 100 and humid af where I live and my AC is working its ass off just to keep me from sweating. This is my first mainlining experience but I feel it was a success judging from the initial quality( quality= the fact that they are big dense donkey dick buds) I actually enjoy the uplifting high more so than couchlock which makes me want to pull them a bit earlier but I don't like the racy high, which I got out of my first batch, (strain, bubblicious) that I pulled way too early. Will update you with finished product. :weed:
