The Irish Growers Thread!

Got what I hope is going to become my veg box. Might do a build journal to get some advice about how to build it!! At the moment it just has the fan, one light and Celia so temps are staying around 22C, humidity is a bit low 55%, but its not too low so not going to stress about it. The holes in the handles are great for putting wires through and it still closes properly. Lined it with a survival blanket (€2 - bargain) but I will line it with some decent mylar when I start to put it together properly. Been 6 days since she poked through the soil and the soil was dry for the first time today so she got a proper watering with half strength plagron roots added, since then she's been leaning to the side, don''t think its anything serious but I'll keep an eye on her till lights out. The brown thing on one of her cotyledons is a bit of the seed casing, didn't want to pull it off in case I pulled the whole leaf off.

Around 1,100 cannabis plants and nine stun guns were recovered today during a raid in west Dublin.

The elaborate and high-tech cultivation factory was discovered in sheds at the rear of a house on Blakestown Road, Blanchardstown.

Gardaí estimate the street value of the plants is up to €450,000.

A 26-year-old man is being questioned by detectives.

The planned raid was carried out as part of an ongoing investigation into the sale and supply of illegal drugs by officers from the Blanchardstown Drug Unit.

The suspect is being detained at Blanchardstown Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

Elsewhere, heroin with a potential street value of €150,000 was seized during a house raid in Ballyfermot.

A 19-year-old who was arrested at the scene is being detained at Ballyfermot garda station under section 2 of the Drug Trafficking Act.

Gardaí said the search – carried out on a house on Cherry Orchard Parade at approximately 1pm – was the result of an operation targeting the sale and supply of drugs in the area.

GARDAI uncovered a massive cannabis factory in sheds at the rear of a cottage in suburban Dublin yesterday, writes Tom Brady.

A suspect was being questioned by detectives last night as officers carried out further inquiries.

Gardai from the Blanchardstown drug unit in west Dublin made the find after they raided a large shed at the back of Blakestown Cottages, Blakestown Road, around lunchtime yesterday.

Inside they discovered what was described as a very sophisticated cannabis cultivation factory.

Gardai seized cannabis plants with an estimated street value of €450,000.

They also found an array of equipment including humidifiers, heaters, fans and thermostats and said the shed had been converted into a factory.

Nine stun guns were also recovered at the scene and taken away for ballistic examination by forensic officers at the Garda technical bureau.

Detectives detained a man in his 20s and he was taken for questioning under the Drug Trafficking Act.

Hi lads,
I just joined up today, I`m a noob to all this and in Ireland.
I have just germinated a few lowryder/ak47 seeds and potted them. This should be fun !

I am thinking of an outdoor grow for these first few plants but I would like to get some equipment for an indoor grow soon enough.
Does anyone have a good place to buy a few CFLs. I have seen some good prices on ebay.
Also some fans/filters/g etc. What would basic would you guys recommend to get indoor growing on a small scale (lowriders)?

Welcome TJ , All you need to get those babies to harvest is lights and air circulation - start out small picking up a couple of essentials and it wont be long before your growroom expands. Hope you have done a bit of homework cause no matter how much we can help you here , you need good foundations to be successfull.

I think a timer for your lights is a good purchase for under 5 yoyo's. What kind of soil did you use to pot them beans you germed and what size pots are they in ?

Hey guys,

I have just joined up. Great to see so many weed growers in ireland! im in dublin growing my first mj plant. Durban Poison. Im growing indoors and it has been growing pretty well so far until i added some nutrients. The newer leaves have started curling inwards and look alot harsher than the other ones. Is this cause of the nutrients? I have flushed out the soil a couple of times, anything else i can do? Its still growing pretty well lots of new sprouts and leaves. any suggestions, all comments appreciated.

Thanks

Well scapegoat your name brings back memorys of the barrowlands in Glasgow seen Christy Moore ahhh good times. Your plant sounds like it got slight nute burn , now if you have flushed your soil a few times and there is bad drainage they could be suffering from lock out of oxygen to the roots , mouisture stress. Can you upload a pic but if the new growth is ok you might be fine. Also what kind of nutes and soil mix are you using.

DSC_0051.jpghey easter here is a pic. The nutrients is just a cheap tesco brand of 5 nitrogen 2 phosphorus 4 oxide. The pot has good drainage the water runs pretty well through the soil and out the bottom. what u reckon?

Thanks

Thanks for the reply.

I have a couple of timers lying about that I can use. I put them in pots of various sizes, from smallish to quite big using shamrock potting compost.
I suppose I can transfer them to larger pots when the time comes?

I was thinking of getting a 1 x 250w veg bulb and 1 x 250w flowering bulb and reflectors, like these and split my grow area into 2 (veg and flowering)
Would the 250w be enough for 3 - 4 lowryder#2/ak47 plants?

I have a lot to learn, but it will be worth it.
