I know your saying your friend has experience but this will be your setup in your house and you really should know how it works before you start growing with it. If a pump fails in the middle of the night your mate won’t be there to help and with a 60/40 mix you might not have long to fix the problem. If a float switch gets stuck your house could flood and if you don’t know what a float switch is you can’t stop it lol. Just a heads up

From your last pic they looked at bit light green, could do with extra nitrogen or up the A/B ratio a small bit.

Wait!!!! You have 3x 630 double ended CMH lights??

Thanks for the heads up man haha
And yeah your right I don’t know what a float switch is lol :/

But the thing is I’m not taking it all to serious because I know it’s only my first time growing and know there is a LOT to learn so am just happy to be learning the ropes as I go

And no man iv 2 630s going into an 8x4

I’ll stick up a picture now of how the ladies are lookin :)

Your sort of jumping into the deep end with a hydro setup for your first grow... you will learn fast haha.

Hydro and soil are completely different in many ways. I would highly recommed you check your system before you start. Look at other grows here where the Wilma system is used. If your just taking instructions from someone else it won’t make sense the next time. Best to learn from your own mistakes.

Your guna get a fair wack of heat from 2x 630 CMH lights in a tent. Their double ended bulbs and usually need to be a little higher than single ended. Try keep a fan position on them to dispers the heat a little and make sure your extraction is setup right

Haha your right and I will probably learn the hard way :D

Good thinking on the wilma system!
I’m going to jump on YouTube now and look it up...

Thanks for the tips man

Mini update...
My two seedlings are flying along. Second set of leaves shooting out from the middle of other two. The royal seeds promotional one is growing faster and was faster to germinate. Wonder will this remain so...
I was mentioning putting in another plant. Well I'm putting in two now so four plants total in a 1msq tent which is 80 by 80 by 160.
Will a hps 400 be enough or two much to flower em?

I have a duct from outside bringing in fesh air and am venting out the ceiling to the attic so could handle the heat i guess. Will upgrade the sh1tty kenley 100cfm to an rkv 6 inch.

Emeraldbuds would you be deadset against 24 continious light on northern lights autos? I read a post of yours saying you leave em like that for the first week and then give them rest. Kinda worried about night time temps getting below 20 degrees with the lights off. Suppose there's nothing stopping me having the dark period during the heat of the day?

Still have not watered the seedlings in the six days since they broke the surface. I filled the smart pots with soil and watered them through with lotsa run off to get rid of any air pockets. Because of this when i poke a finger in to the soil its still moist one knuckle down. I suppose my question is should i hit them up with water or wait till its totally dry one knuckle down?

Pm have a load of packages for me so hopefully my ph swabs have landed. Have used spring bottled water initially but read its loaded with minerals potentially so guess I'll have to read on what to get to analyse that.

Cheers lads.

Hi,
My PH Pen only just arrived and I have calibrated it.

When I mix the tap water with PH down, what number should I be trying to achieve please?

Thanks

I wouldn’t give them 24hr throughout the cycle. Technically you can but the roots develope and the plants sort of heals itself during dark period so it’s important for the plants growth. If your worried about temp while the lights are off you can get a heater and get yourself a temp sensor with controller. You can pick up an inkbird from amazon cheap enough. Stick the heater on the controller and you’ll keep perfect temps

If your in soil you need the ph around 6.5. Checkout the green section of the table

Okeydokey when i get home I'll set up the vipar on a timer. 1400 to 1800 will be the hottest part of the day so thats when she'll sleep. Leave the fan and exhaust fan on yeah?

Looked up that inkbird thermostatic yoke, smart and cheap enough! What you plug into it man may i ask? Would a heating mat do or a small oil filled rad next to the passive intake in the tent?

Germinated another for the last empty pot and planted this am. Germinating another as i have doubts about the other on in the other air pot.

Have to say, kinda dig whole this process seeing these little doods make their way into life:)

Hopefully man!

I have a friend with 20 years growing experience running me true every step of the way so hopefully I can get a nice yield from it... they will be under 3 630 CMH lights and am told that pulling 1 gram+ per watt is very possible from them so I was hoping for around 1.2 kg from it? What do yous think do ya think that’s a bit optimistic?
Very optimistic.

I find them very handy. I plug a small fan heater into the inkbird on full wack. Once the temp starts to drop the heater kicks in and brings temps back up within a few mins. You need to make sure it’s set correctly. You can also pick up the humidity controller version. I have it hooked up to the dehumidifier during flower.

In regards to watering the seedlings. What your doing in right, let them use up what water they have before given them more. They will be slow to uptake at the start but you will notice a difference after a week or 2. I usually go by weight of the pots. You’ll get to know when they need water by lifting them.

Couldn’t ask for a better hobby, the end results are nice too

You ever work out your average cost per oz? Those leccy bills gotta stack up. Then again still got to be cheaper than buying it. Actually what is the average price per oz these days..?
Im a couple decades late to this, in my day it was all matchstick deals of baaad hash in tinfoil lol. Used to be tons of plastic wrapper **inside** the bloody stuff haha. Weed was a very very rare occurance.
I have a couple hobbies and am always tinkering with stuff but yeah i can see the attraction of this. The only bother is well the illegality which is a pain in the arse....:(

Come payday i will bag a fan heater and inkbird tstat for the colder nights coming. My RH aint bad for seedlings (i believe...) at mid sixties but i think i can reduce that by directly hooling up my external air supply ducting directly into the tent.

What ya reckon Emeraldbuds on the 400 hps. Will it be too much for my 1 sqm tent and four plants?

400 is bout right for 4 plants depending on veg time. 600 even better if you can keep temps down. Digital ballasts are the job and adjust as needed.
Price per oz depends on the grower, hydro, soil, location, season and equipment used., anything from 10 to 120 p oz.

ESB isn’t too bad. I ran 1.2kw of lights and maybe .5kw on everything else. ESB for 4 months usually comes to around €450. I keep track of what I pay for my gear, the last run cost me about €45 an oz with a dry weight of 1500g. An oz of the cheapest stuff around here goes for €350 so saving a fair bit.

The illegality of it isn’t problem once you don’t show, don’t talk and don’t sell. 3 golden rules of a raid free grow :blsmoke:

You want humidity around 60/70% for seedling, 60% for veg and then around the 50% mark during flower. If you follow the VPD tables you can keep higher humidity with higher temps but I keep it simple.

Yeah I’d agree with budsahoi, the 400w will work but I wouldn’t flower with anything less than a 600w. You do need to keep on top of the heat but it’s worth it in the end
