The Hot Box

Small little room created out of 2x4's

Dimensions: 6x5 ft 7 ft high

Black plastic around the exterior
Mylar covering everything inside except the roof

Two 10x10 inch vents at the bottoms of the room on opposite sides covered by screen

1 oscillating fan in front of one of the vents

1 squirrel cage fan dangling from the center with the intake right near the lamp - ducting leading out of the room via hole in the plastic.

600w MH - ballast is located outside of the growroom

96 degree Fahrenheit

THIS MAY BE A FACTOR.... this temperature was taken as a test run to determine temperature before the plants are actually placed into the environment. As of right now my seeds are still germinating and not quite ready for the growroom...

There is no water in my reservoir and about 30-40 percent humidity...

will temperatures decrease once my reservoir is full?

If not... any suggestions?
Or am i by any chance doing something critically wrong...

I really didnt think that getting a cooled light via air or water involved in the hood was going to be a necessity for me

ALSO... can i make more 10x10 inch vents on the tops of the room to let out more heat?

you need better ventalation.... 96 is too hot... put up pics

camera is broken at the moment... what type of pictures would do best


What type of ventilation would do best ... i just went broke from the supplies needed so far... what would be the most cost efficient way to cool things down... if not free...

any little holes or more vents that i can cut into the structure?

-Get a few bathroom exhaust fan's from HomeDepot, their $12 a piece.

offhand i cant remember the CFM's the box is somewhere i cant find at the moment. BUT the cfm's were initially inteded for an 8x8 room... so they r quite ok for a smaller 5x6 room

bathroom exhaust fans... is there a link that i could get to the fans.... im searching on the home depot site and im not getting anything fan wise in the 12$ range

will another oscillating fan do any good... or would it be futile

and is mylar being EVERYWHERE except the ceiling insulating the room TOO much?

Remember that the colour black attracts heat?
And if the outside of your grow room is black..well it's not gonna help, but i doubt that's the full problem. it may help to remove it?



As for looking on the internet for something, get yo' lazy ass down to the shop man!

i'm going to swing by my local grow shop and ask him whats going on....
then im going to stop by home depot...
I am eventually going to need an inline fan with a carbon filter attached, but i wanted to try and avoid it for now... but more than likely due to smell and heat, it will be inevitable.

the growroom is in a cool basement and the black isnt exposed at all the to light because the only black part is on the roof

Pics are now provided.... the Box says the squirrel cage moves 800 cu ft in 4.5 mins.

the temperature of the grow room with everything OFF is already almost 75 degrees!!!!

lol wtf am i doing wrong here... is AC going to be an absolute must during the summer time?
