So its been almost 3 weeks since i put them in and I'm feeling like they should be bigger in size. I know some of them look burnt but that problem has been dealt with. I got over excited about growing again, 'm sure you all know how it is. The 3 biggest ones (maui, Urkle, and the FFA) are about 10 to 12" and i wanted them to be my mothers. How long till i will be able to cut a good amount of clones from those 3? And i have them under a 400w MH at 10" above plant tops. Room temps range between 70-80 during lights on, and 60-65 with the lights out. Any ideas on the situation, or am i just trippin and require another bowl

I'm on page 9 (40 posts per page). I have seen one thing on using soil nutrients, but it wasn't clear to me if they are worth using. I have three Blue Mountain Organics nutrients and fert in my basket. Should I find something else or will they still work just as well as something specifically formulated for hydroponics.

Am I going to run into a problem with bio availability of the nutes, using this soil intended stuff?

They'll work, they will just have to be diluted.

So my hempy is suffering right now lol. Leaves first showed signs of Phosphorous deficiency, but then started showing other symptoms that weren't P related, like downward canoeing, and random leaves straying up and in a random direction. I drilled holes cause I don't think it's getting enough air. I wonder if molasses can make the drbud mix bad... I may be making it up in my head, but I think the horrid smell of the shit is changing. I have to re-up on reverse osmosis water tomorrow, so I'm gonna try having the drbud mix, and then water/molasses in the other, and alternate feedings. Hopefully the holes in the side will fix it.

So like 1/4 strength once a week or 1/4 strength at every watering?

you can give the plants both soil an hydro nutes in this medium...hydro nutes work best as they break down faster into the rootzone...imo the plant will tell you whats up so start on a base feeding regmine then if the plant shows signs of anything correct as it comes....you got any pics blink.....peace az

I've been trying to figure out what brand light to buy. Do you think this light would work efficiently? I just don't see why I should spend $90 on a Hortilux bulb if these Sylvania's will work good too for $12. Here is the description.

Sylvania LU400/ECO EPA Compliant 400 watt mogul Base HPS Lamp
  • Operates on S51 HPS ballast
  • Universal burn position
  • Meets EPA TCLP criteria for non-hazardous waste

I would seek advice from somewhere's beside blink. By his own admission he can't grow plants yet loves to give advice. reading his posts it's clear that he is a highschool kid.
with a couple of dying plants in his mom's basement.
look around here and ask someone that has actually completed a harvest for advice.

Those are only 6.95

All I've ever used is the cheapies, but from looking at the specs on the hortilux it would probably yield $80 more worth pretty easily if you had a SOG and were utilizing all of your grow space.

I never look at things that way either.

Seems like only a highschool kid would make a post like that. ^ I've grown and harvested two beautiful plants so far, separate times, but it was the same strain. I'm a sophomore in college, don't live with my parents, AND my plant, the only ONE you could be talking about, is fine. Anything else you'd like to make up? I'm far from an expert, but I give advice on what I do know -- and there's no advice that I've given that you could prove as "bad" advice. It's clear you're young, looking to get a rile out of people. It's the internet, grow up. Ohhh yeah, I thought I remembered your name. You're the kid who talked shit cause I asked about a false bottom lol. Apparently you hold internet grudges, over a matter of months. Do you have a life other than your online one? I'm pretty busy, and find it pretty funny when I come back to this site after a few weeks and some kid has a personal vendetta against me, it's almost awkward.

I think the problem I had with my girl is that same mold I had in the cup. When it was happening, I had been busy that week, slacked on watering for a few days and didn't keep the reservoir full -- leading to rot.

I also changed my water so that it's just the DrBud mix in one gallon, and the other is just water/molasses, alternating feedings. About half the hairs are brown so far, still waiting on the trichs. Probably another 2 weeks.

Hey here's a challenge for some one to figure out, I think i really need some help here. I've been growing my guys since the end of July mostly perlite with vermiculite mixed in, the seeds were middie seeds, the best i could get my hands on. I'm using a 400w hps in my closet, pretty good ventilation. Also im using schultz liquid nutes, 10-15-10. and i really wish i had pictures for you guys but i dont own a camera(poor college student sorry)

1) i feel like they should be bigger, my oldest one is about 14.5 inches tall and its been almost 2.5 months
2) my biggest problem...the leaves at the bottom of the stalk keep dying. Ive tried everything, i use bottled water and water from a brita filter now. I'm afraid of flushing them again cus i dont want to over water, it seems like my buckets can take alot of water before overflowing thru the hole. its not too hot, im sure of that. the only other thing it could be is that i actually am overwatering them, but i only water them every 3-4 days.

any suggestions? anything from anyone would really help me out here

Well I've decided to jump into the Hempy revolution.

Here are my 4 Auto AK-47 (fem) and 4 Diesel Ryders in 3 to 1 Perlite/Vermiculite and 1 gallon buckets. This system was a drip system with the gromet at the bottom of the bucket for drainage. I just inserted Elbow pieces into the holes and It allows me to see the water level in the bottom to fine tune 2" of water to keep the wick going.

I can also attach a funnel to top off the res.

Its interesting. But hopefully they work!

I am running the following nutrients:
Ionic Grow
Ionic Bloom
Ionic Boost
Nitrozime
Hygrozime
Sub Culture
Greenfuse Bloom
Botanicare Sweet
Europonic Fulvic+Humic Acid

:D

for some reason i am capable of reading a 108 page book in much less time that it took me to read this 108 page thread :/

I'm tired of soil problems and so will try 100% perlite HB on my next attempt. I'm stocking up on 3gal buckets for about 1.50 each. the perlite is going to cost about what good soil would have... so if i can reuse it, thats deffinitely a plus.

they are running a special right now on the GH flora nova hydro stuff.... 4 bottles for 100.00. you pick the fourth bottle. so i'm guessing i would want the 4th bottle to be more bloom? can you use the lucas formula with this brand? ie; just use micro and bloom? i'll be using tap water, pH corrected as nescesary, and airstoned to release the chlorine for at least 24 hours.

Hempy Love.

the best i can find seems to be 10 lb. bags for like 8.99 plus tax... I'm hoping this is 1 1/2 cu. ft. at least... won't know till i pick it up on Thur/Fri. and see how many of these i'll need to fill all my pots.

has to beat buying those dang 8 quart bags they got everywhere though. that, i simply could not afford with the number of pots i am looking at.

So I just started a new hempy grow. I recommend to everyone considering this method to start from clone or seed in cubes and then transfer to a HB once the roots are established and the plant is a few inches tall. It has taken 2 weeks in lifeless perlite to get my seedlings to the same point where they were after 2 days in previous soil grows. After 2 weeks shouldn't the tap root have hit the rez and the growth explosion have started?

I think its best to put them in the hempy bucket once rooted as well. Or.. maybe a 12oz cup to start them in straight perlite. Ill give it a shot sometime maybe.

Yeah, in my last hempy grow I put 5-6" cuttings in 16oz cups and then bog transferred (just cut off the bottom half of the foam cup and place top half with plant in bigger pot) to 1 gallon pots. I wanted to use 44oz cups and 2 gallon pots this time to get a bigger yield. It would be nice to get 3-4oz per plant this grow. Oh and if anyone needs 44oz foam cups pm me, I bought 300 of them in bulk b/c I couldn't find them anywhere locally in the quantities I needed. So I have an extra 150-200 laying in the shed...
