The Grow II (Shining Silver Haze) W/LED Illuminator- Soil to Dwc Grow

I just took some concentration readings.

Interesting results
Res B which started out 12 hours ago @ 2695 PPM is now 2394 PPM a difference of 501
Res A which started out 12 hours ago @ 2695 PPM is now 1855 PPM a difference of 840

This could be correct seeing as Res A was stuck in the same nutrients for about 2 weeks with no addition no nothing. Maybe she's hungry. Res B however ....? maybe these are somewhat regular consumption rates during flowering. I don't know myself..

Hey Dicky,,
With my measure ments you gotta kinda put it in perspective. See I'm onlyu using the ppm to show consumption not necessarily to police the Res. I'll make the mixuture according to my plans and I know my ppm should be "x".
After the plants have been in the nutes for a day or two 'llI like to check to make sure they are drinking properly, and that they have enough to drink.

Im peeping the grow. Interested in seeing what an led does. But would really like to see u finish them with the 400 u will be glad u did. Aint here to tell u how to grow tho. I grew with CFL's and whatever i could find when i first started but it wasnt till i added the HPS in flower that it really made it all worth my time. In that case it comes down to quantity verses the time and effort u put into ur grow. I see u putting in work bro. Use the HPS to flower man u will be glad u did and will maximize ur grows fullest potential. Im sticking around tho. Good stuff
@onthedl0008 - as you wanted to see i'm going to finish the push with the 400W HiD. Once I have stabilized my grow mechanics i'll start making LED and HiD comparisons. Plus i want to try another LED manufacturer since the technology is moving pretty rapidly now.

Yep approx 1.5 liters per day for the big girl (i can say girl now), and it's starting to pickup just yesterday on the little come back kid...
The PPM's stabilize a bit after the initial res change so I figure I should be running about 50 /60% of those figures in actual nute consumption. Shit this is a good thing considering I almost lost them both...

Flowering is coming along slowly but surely.

Hey FG, The second Res is flowering now. I hope it doesn't morph into a Hermie, I did kinda stress her..

Pics later..

Sup all,

Here are updates on the grow. This grow germed around Aug 14th. So today is day 103 from Germ. Flowering was initiated on the 5th of Oct. Making this day 46 of Flowering

Both Res's are getting the same Nutes. All comparisons and tests, I'd previously planned, I've had to call off.
I'm running AN Sensi 2 part Expert level. Both res's are running at 70% recommended nutrient potency. The big plant has been showing pistils longer than the small one but the small one is showing more advanced signs of flowering.

The pics you see here actually show the difference in my grow between the side lit by LED and the side lit by HiD. THIS IS NO JOKE!!! There is a considerable difference seen!
This is the LED side pic of one Bud site. Same plant! The LED side is the older of the 2 sides believe it or not!!
The Grow II (12).jpg:finger:
This is the HiD side with only 1 bud site. Again this Bud site came about only once I added the HiD which was about 2-3 weeks into flowering...
The Grow II (13).jpg:weed:

Here is the survivor!! She chose life!!!
Before...
The Grow II (6).jpg
After...
The Grow II (7).jpg

now..
The Grow II (16).jpg:clap::clap::clap: She came through Flo Grow!!! U see that dude. Just a little TLC and Big Daddy brought her back :clap::clap:

Here is some bud porn for you junkies. She may not deliver in large quantities but I think she's gonna be a screamer!!!!!
The Grow II (27).jpg I mean she will have a max of 5 Bud site if that.
:leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf::leaf:

Now the big girl

The Grow II (21).jpg
i just trimmed this undercarriage, so it looks a lot lighter now. and she can focus on those bud sites that are already above the SCRoG

As anyone that has been following this thread can see I've rearranged the lights. I saw a significant difference in the area lite by my HiD as opposed to that area lite only by the LED.

In all fairness the LED that I'm using is simply probably not the best for this in terms of diodes used etc.... So now my $300 90W Illuminator from ProsourceWorldwide is being used as supplemental lighting.

My next LED purchase will be smarter. More watts! This 90W is Excellent for vegging! Or maybe for keeping a mother. But fuck that don't flower under a 90W, at least not this one!!!

Nice to see you are happy with your learning process !
This will pay off exponentially ! I promise !
You most def did the lil one right.
She is looking good too.
Now the big girl................SHE is a beast !
If the stretch has stopped, I suggest trimming EVERYTHING under the screen.
EVERY leave, stem or bud that is not at screen level.

Hey Pure!

I just read the whole grow up until now. EVERY comment.

All I can say is WOW, you've been on a long ride my friend.
Im actually spent just from reading the thread! hah

Great Job bringing the plants back from near death!!!! I'm anxious to see the yield of the big one.

Ive been growing in soil for the past year and now im thinking about doing a DWC setup. How hard is it to keep the temps down in the water? My closet tends to run a little hot(80 degrees)..and very hot in the summer. I'm actually thinking about not doing a grow this summer.
Also can you link to the exact nutrients you are using? I'm clueless on hydro nutes(fox farms guy).

To keep the temps down you can try a number of things you can use 5 gallon plastic buckets but if you are worried about your reservoir temps getting to high and you have sme extra dough to spend I would recommend on getting 5 gal sport coolers ( i use them ) or a Ice Chest cooler.. I live in the freaking hottest state in this country where summer temps reach 115 and dont cool off until Nov. My reservoir temps stay at 68 degrees for a week at a time, I kid you not.

Sup Dude,

thanks for checking out the thread dude. I couldn't get back sooner since I was traveling and dont want to log on with the company PC. (That might be a career limiting move). The Grow snapped back pretty well, I gotta say.
First the update:

Both are doing really Today is exactly week 8 of flowering, and considering they both were trying to check outta here, iI'm grrateful to be at week at as opposed to week 3 with a nu push... :)

"Fat Boy" which is now the smallest one, started tric production about 10 days sooner than the "little man", (little man is now the fat boy!!)

Little man is burning about 1.5 ltrs of water per day so I run 1 day refill with straight water, second day 1.5 liters of nute rich water. Every 5-6 days reservoir change out...
(no ph balancing, no ppm monitoring)
The ADv Nutes (Expert level) dont need it. I've heard people say that with the adv nutes I'm going to have to add things but I only use:
Sensi Bloom A&B
Bud candy
B52
and Big Bud.

As far as the temps. I really have no issue since It's winter and my HiD is now running the show. 400W hiD provides all heating needs during the evening hours during the day the temps drops but the plants seems to like it...

Thats it.

I have a bunch of buds spots on the Little boy (the big one). I'm hoping to compensate those little popcorn buds and pump them into some real buds to be proud of.

As for the temps. There are a number of ways If i had to do it is would probably be easiest to have a cooling res where you can mix your nutes and cool the res and pûmp right into your active res's.

Heya pntrbl,

thanks for dropping by dude. Yeah I even went into hiding for a while when the plants where going south. I was so frustrated that i wouldn't even post.. But it was only with reading and thinking (not while high) did i figure this crap out and get my girls through the storm.. I'm actually so looking forward to seeing what these two plants will deliver.

Here are some more close ups.

Thx Rhyma - LED are definitely nice, but you have to have the proper expectations. Expectations in terms of results as well as price.
