I looked at the pics. OUCH!!!! My fingers and toes are crossed that they survive. I guess this will be a test of their true hardiness! But hey, I've had my plants chomped to shit by squirrels a couple of times now and they've survived. Those bare stalks get leaves again pretty fast.

I don't really have anything interesting to take pictures of today. Everything's just vegging right along. I did a little mad science today and took clones of my rosebush and shiso plants (shiso being a yummy Japanese salad green), and dipped them in rooting hormone powder (just the regular Schultz kind) and put them in glass bottles outside. That way I can actually watch the root development. I also put one of the rosebush cuttings into rockwool and dirt to see if it does any better or worse than the one in water. Tonight I'm going to make a willow tea from the tree in the backyard and try rooting something in that, and I'll probably also try aspirin. I'm all about the comparison studies!

Then, just for the hell of it, I took a cutting off one of my bushier Connies, and put that in rockwool and dirt in the cab. If it takes off I'm going to be beside myself with joy! I'll take pics as soon as there's something to show.

Oh yay, it just started raining again...but we've had two sweltering hot days of sunshine so I'm not too worried. :)

Okay, Seamaiden, here is both a ray of hope and a pic for you: this plant literally got its head bitten off when it was still a baby! I came out one day and the squirrels had chomped it just above the first round leaves. (Cotyledon? Is that what those first two leaves are called? Anyway, it was headless.) I decided to leave it alone rather than pulling it up, just to see what happened, and here it is several days ago. It's having a real growth spurt. But if you look at it, you can see where it got munched. If there's hope for this plant, anything is possible!!!

Ah thank you! Good to know! Will do!

Edit: went out and potted 'em all in rockwool and dirt. Might as well not waste any time. Besides, I want to experiment with rockwool a little more.

Oh, and I also got two battery operated fans off eBay today (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110269156864&ssPageName=MERC_VIC_RCRX_Pr4_PcY_BIN_IT&refitem=110269156664&itemcount=4&refwidgetloc=closed_view_item&usedrule1=CrossSell_LogicX&refwidgettype=cross_promot_widget&_trksid=p284.m183&_trkparms=algo%3DCRX%26its%3DS%252BI%26itu%3DUCI%252BSI%26otn%3D4) to use in the cab. Really good price from what I've found and perfect for my little cab. It's not hot in there but the air circulation isn't great. The guy seems to have a lot of these for sale if anyone else needs such a thing.

i finally made it to y'alls rad chit chat about the finest medicine on the planet! I'm so glad I found y'all, there is heaps of wonderful information here!
As little bat said i'm a card holder in Hawaii and Oregon & I got the connie seeds from another grower whose plants hermed on him. I have plenty of 'em(hint hint;)
I will take pics of my pineapple dog shit&white widow soon, promise!
aloha everyone!
Subcool, THANK YOU! I am so honored to have you here!!

The person I got them from is a medical grower. She got them from a seed bank but I'm not sure where. I'm trying to get her on here too, I just emailed her to join RIU & this thread.

We're glad you've found your way here, too, yeldah. :) One thing, though, along with the good information I think is just as much bad. I read a lot of, "Oh, I heard this, I heard that" with little to back it up (often not even experience). I'm learning to pick through it.

I am getting deadly curious, though, as to what the bud of a pineapple dog shit might look like.

I know, show us some pineapple dogshit, mamajama! :)

And get some Connies going! Let's see if you can at least get one female!

I am wondering if one of my plants is starting to show sex. It looks like it's getting little pistils at the nodes. Is that possible if it was planted May 1 and has been outside the whole time? I would take pics but my camera sucks so I'll have to borrow my neighbor's to get some closeups.

So are you guys ready for pics? (Dumb question!)

Check out the insane growth spurt. We've finally had a few days of sun, and boy did they respond! About a week ago I fed them some more worm castings and damn, they loooooooove that shit!

I feel compelled to explain that the reason my terrace is so dirty is that I did some major planting yesterday. I'm not really living in my own filth, I promise!

The plant in the big white planter is one of the ones that got eaten by squirrels, and it's not recovering so fast. Do you think I should keep it or use the planter for one of the new thriving seedlings?

And hey, ST, about that Afghani/MK, does it have a tendency for the fan leaves to curl under? Several of them are doing so.

Yeah, dude, seriously, fuck squirrels. Evil little demon beasts.

I know this is going to sound seriously dorked out, but sometimes I look at these plants and I'm just amazed that they're going to grow into something smokable! It seems like forever, heh. But then I realize it's only three to four more months (do you guys think the ones in the cab will be done in three months?) and it's so exciting! Ha!

you can make em ready sooner doll...you just have to sacrifice some yield for it...but I do have to say...it may be good to do a quick run with the ones in the cab for your first shot in the cab.....it will give you a little better idea how much bigger they will get once you put them into flower. but yeah..they are the prettiest flowering plants on the planet in my opinion :blsmoke:

I was planning to grow them until they were half the height of the cab, then go to 12/12. Right now they're still on 24 hours of light. Do I need to do another lighting schedule in between, or can I just go straight to 12/12?

Shift it to 18/6 lady, same results less electricity. Is that cover you made completely light proof like we talked about?????????When you go 12/12 eventually!!!,youll need complete darkness!!!!!!!Right now it doesnt matter.

I'm not sure what you mean by unsupported. They're all held down with floral wire that I got at Michael's (the big craft store.) It's wrapped with a kind of ropey-looking stuff -- I'm not sure exactly what it is, it feels like rope. I tied down the larger branches on all the plants today. Here are pics. The first two are that same plant.

Take some pics of yours, Hydro! All of you on this thread owe me pics bigtime. ;)
