If you want to loose weight.....a good place to start is to plan a diet.....eat every 2-3 hours and only eat enough, never eat until you are full....big no no.A lot of smaller meals through out the day increases metabolism which in turn = more energy.

Eating is more important than a work out because the food you eat fuels you for your work out.

My daily intake is carefully monitored and planned before hand.If I am going to have a busy day I make all my meals the night before. The reason most of us eat junk food is because it is fast and convenient when we are on the move.

My daily food intake looks like this:

1 hour after I wake up 2 eggs, 2 egg whites, 2 pieces of 12 grain bread ,16 oz. water or 8 oz. of milk
2 hours later 1 can tuna (plain) on 2 pieces of 12 grain bread, 16 oz water
2hours later 1 piece fruit 1 turkey sandwich plain, 16 oz. water
2 hours later protein shake 16 oz water
2 hours later 1 piece chicken breast (not fried) cauliflower and broccoli 16 oz water
2 hours later 1 turkey sandwich 16 oz water.

Stop food intake 2 hours before sleep.Keep in mind I am on a high protein diet and I eat a lot of carbs because I work out 3 days on 1 day off.I have lean muscle,14 inch biceps,15 inch calfs,20 inch quads, 38 inch chest,30 inch waist and weight 149 lbs. and I am a mere 5'6.I don't eat refined sugars,no fried foods.I only drink water and milk, occasionally I will drink o.j.

Hope this helps some one.......remember most of it is psychological once you get over that hurdle it is easy sailing.Best wishes everybody.Stay fit and healthy : )
you know what make that better, being a good cook. almost every spice has zero calories. Adding the right combination to a bland healthy meal makes you look forward to your next snack.

Also for the tuna fish I hate it, but I use vinegar or even hot sauce throw it in a frying pan(no oil) and it taste like pulled pork.:weed:

It's not always about calories, spices have a lot of sodium (which leads to high blood pressure, heart disease),herbs on the other hand are healthy.

Everything I eat I like.I know many are not used to eating plain but after a while your body gets used to it.My motto is I eat to live not live to eat : )

salt has salt in it lol... everything else is just leafs, berries, roots, or seeds.

Unless you are talking about prepackaged spices they might have sodium.

[h=2]High Sodium Spices[/h]Mustard and chili powder are both high in sodium. According to the USDA Nutrition Database, mustard seed contains 11 mg of sodium per gram, while chili contains 10 mg per gram of powder. This equates to both mustard and chili powder containing 1% sodium.
[h=2]Moderate Sodium Spices[/h]Cloves, celery seed, cumin and saffron all contain moderate amounts of sodium: Cloves contain 2.4 mg, celery seed contains 1.6 mg, cumin contains 1.7 mg and saffron 1.5 mg of sodium per 1 g of spice. These spices all contain less than 0.5% sodium.

Figures from "Diet and Fitness Today" show that parsley, spearmint, coriander leaf and dill are herbs which contain moderate amounts of sodium. Dried parsley contains 4.52 mg per 1 g of herb, dried spearmint 3.44 mg, dried coriander leaf 2.11 mg and dried dill weed 2.08 mg making all of these herbs less than 0.5% sodium.

[h=2]Low Sodium Spices[/h]Mace, allspice, curry powder and onion powder all contain less than 0.1% sodium. The USDA nutrition database notes that mace contains 8 mg, allspice 7.7 mg, curry powder 5.2 mg and onion powder 5.4 mg of sodium per 1 g of spice.

The only way to get in shape... regardless of what you eat, is exercising. The more you eat, the more you need to exercise. Exercising sucks... so eat less and you won't have to exercise as much. Either way, you gotta exercise... no way getting around it lol!

Any feelings on a juice fast? I was thinking of embarking on one but idk if i can give up steak....

I've read there's really no benefit to juice fasts, as, as soon as they're done, and you go back to your usual eating habits, the same intoxicants enter your system.

Imo, the best way to stay healthy is 60% what you eat and 40% what you do. Eat good and be active and you'll likely lead a pretty healthy lifestyle. Eat lean meats like chicken, turkey and tuna, greens and vegetables, fruits and nuts, and avoid processed shit like fast food and excessive salt and sugar and you're good.

I've actually heard fat people complain about not knowing this recipe to a healthy lifestyle, as if eating nothing but shit for your body all day will get you any kind of results..

Every time I eat something I'm already pretty sure what it will do to my body. I think the hard part is knowing the amount. One candy bar probably won't do shit to an already healthy person, but add in a hundred candy bars over the course of a year and those calories add up! Especially if you're not working out, and consequently, if you're eating candy bars on a regular basis, you're likely not getting much exercise. It's a snowball effect.

I'm with you on that one!

Yeah, but there's a balance between a healthy lifestyle, and being a health nut. I'm not going to be one of those people who is so busy counting calories and working out that I forget to actually, you know...enjoy myself.

I'm a bit overweight, but my blood pressure is good, my heart is strong, and even though I smoke a pack and a half of filtered cigars a day my lungs are clear. Even with the DDD and arthritis and the overweight thing, I'm actually pretty "healthy", I'm not in danger of dropping dead due to my lifestyle and going up a flight of stairs doesn't wind me, it just hurts my knees and back. All my blood tests come back great, liver function, kidney function, triglycerides, sodium and potassium...everything is great.

And I've eaten probably 5 cans of SPAM this week.

That's awesome, man! The main idea is just being comfortable with yourself in your own skin.

I'm leading a very unhealthy lifestyle right now compared to myself a year or two ago, so I'd like to get back to that, maybe even a little better

I've always lead an "unhealthy" lifestyle. I've smoked since I was 7, I eat fried food all the time (I'm Southern, after all), I think my only "healthy" choice is really that I drink lots of water, but it's just one of those things...I'm always thirsty, and drinking water just makes more sense than constantly buying other crap. I've got a 16.9 fl. oz. water bottle, and I put down at least 8 of those a day, which comes out to...where's my calculator? I'm horrid at math in my head...135.2 fl. oz. of water a day, at least. So a little more than a gallon.

How do you gage the healthiness of your lifestyle?

You say you've always lead a relatively unhealthy lifestyle but remain relatively healthy, which seems to be somewhat contradictory. Do you mind if I ask in which decade do you reside, 30's, 40's, 50's? Do you believe it simply hasn't caught up with you yet?

My dad is 56, he'll be 57 this Dec., he's been smoking 1-2 packs of cigarettes a day since he was 15, do the math and that's a little over 16,000 packs if you round up.. He would tell me he's "relatively healthy"... are you my dad?

Padawan...I am not your father. I'm 33. Honestly me being alive at all I take as a hellacious amount of luck. My mom's dead, my brother's dead, my sister's close to death, my dad's close to death. My brother was the healthiest of us all, and he dropped from a brain aneurysm at 36.

I'm not debating an active lifestyle is good, I support that, I'm saying that what we call healthy and unhealthy is skewed. Think about it, a few years back eggs were unhealthy, then they were healthy again, then the whites were healthy but not the yolks, and now they're back in fashion again. Cigarettes are considered horrible because they give you cancer, but at least 26 chemical compounds in coffee have been identified as carcinogens, and no one's trying to ban coffee. Caffeine is an addictive drug, so is alcohol, and both can cause harm to the human body in numerous ways, but don't eat bacon that has unsaturated fats that actually help serve to help keep arteries clear.

Ask 6 doctors if something is healthy, and you're liable to get 12 answers. It's called practicing for a reason. Not every human body is the same, and not every human body will respond the same way to things, what may be good for you might kill someone else, that's all I'm saying. Healthy and unhealthy are, at their core, relative terms that some people tend to place far too much value on.

I base my life on happiness, and that's my goal, to be more happy.

A lot of people would be surprised how much weight they would lose if they just drank water most of the time. It's okay to indulge occasionally but in moderation. On another note I consider myself somewhat of a health nut but I enjoy it,and that's what matters,I have goals of how I want to look and how it makes me feel so that is why I do it,it makes me happy.
