The Fridgereefer

A few weeks ago i decided that i was going to grow some shit in a refrigerater.
i talked to some folks and what i gathered from everyone i talked to was in
referance to the heat issue since i plan on using a hps 430w agrosun this is
quite an issue and i will show you what i have come up with to remedy
that problem. so...lets get started, here is my fridge

it looks ordinary and inconspicuous.
i have removed the shelves in the doors
and replaced with reflective film
i have also cut the bottom out of the fridge to allow acces to the unused
space underneath

that hose there is just to show
where i have cut holes
in the sides of the fridge and the
cabinet, it is not the actual routing
of the finished cabinet, i removed the fan
from the back of the freezer and remounted
it in the side of the freezer blowing out.
i had to reverse the polarity of the
fan to make this work but hey what the hell

its important to remember that this
is quite a lot of work to go through
but if you have the time and the willpower
its a piece of cake. ok...moving on.
in this pic you will see nutes, Co2 timer
a pyrex glass bake tube the chiller coil
from the back of the freezer and a 5gal bucket

the glass tube i got on ebay, cheep. the coil and the bucket with another
5gal bucket is going to be used to build a heat exchanger that will cool the
recycled air form inside the cab. if you are not following so far just hold up a sec
and i will show you a diagram. by using a passive ventilation system and
pulling the heat off the lamp first and never letting it get into the room i only have to
regulate the temperature. here is a diagram of how it works.

the heat exchanger is basically 2 buckets with an inlet and an outlet the coil
inside and a small res that will run cool water thru it the air from the cab
passes over the coils thus cooling it before it reenters the chamber. the plus side
of this is that i can use heavy Co2 enrichment and i will never lose my gas once i have it all sealed up. here is a
look at that bucket with the coil inside. if you can imagine another
bucket on top of it with holes for flow
thats how it will look.

ok so here is the setup as it sits now, with babies started

i have to construct the cool tube yet with the pyrex bake around tube i got on ebay
i actually bought two, the tube measures 14"x3.75" here is a pic of the tube as i have just finished it

i just used some good old fashioned ingenuity on this one guys
i used some high temp silicone, some foil duct tape, the old light fixture,
some small aluminum grating that i had laying around.
now i will go through the lighting that i am using now.

this isnt much i know but it is doing a great job i have learned that you done need a whole lot in this little
space since the photons have nowhere to go, i have noticed that the plants are not stalky at all,
they are very short with leaves popping everywhere

i dont think i have to go through the nutes i think that is something that everyone has to go through hell
with for a while till you get it right, its like everything else if you do it for
long enough you get it down pretty easy.

so this is pretty much it for today the 8th of jan, 20 days till my b-day, by then i should be cloning.
more on the cab later guys and since i am outta weed i am going to
go smoke some nasty fucking resin.

once i have it set up i will post more, hey guys do me a favor and dont put your posts on here this is my journal for reference only i have another post on here entitled growing in a refrigerator. post comments there please. more to come. thanks for viewing.https://www.rollitup.org/do-yourself/148289-growing-refrigerator.html

Can i make a suggestion.... Use a attic fan thermostat to regulate your cool air cooler. It will only turn on when temps get too high, and keep things warm when needed. I really like you cooler idea but i think you might have to do it on a bigger scale. Im watching dude. Once again well done

well here it is the 9th of january and i have some some update for yall. first off i have
had a change of plans for the heat exchanger the new setup is
easier to manage and easier to construct and once again i have done it with no out of pocket cost.

so instead of the bucket idea i have converted the bottom of the cabinet into the exchanger.
closer to the floor, cooler air down there anyway makes for a better setup.

so this little vent is going to go here when i get the hole cut, of course i will paint it white and cut a rectangular
hole through the inner shell revealing the insulation. on the other side is the exchanger
box in the bottom of the cabinet. i will cut several 2" holes in the outer shell of the fridge just
opposite of the rectangular hole for the vent. so thats the heat exchanger.
now moving on
to the babies. they are making progress especially my #1 here she is two days ago

and here she is today,

honestly folks i have never had a plant grow this fast, the leaf
developement is absolutely amazing and if the other plants were up to snuff like this one i would take it to a 1000-1500ppm but that will
have to wait. here is a few more pictures of the rest of the bunch i swear if this one is male i am
going to be so pissed

so the light tube for the bottom cab is done, i am almost done
with the heat exchanger, and the plants are doing great. now
all i need to do is get a bulb, build the nutrient delivery system for the lower
cab and i am ready to SOG these bitches.
so till next time i am signing off.

well here it is the 20th of january, greetings to all you aquarians and capricorns
out there. here is a pic of the plants on the 15th of jan

they are real healthy at this point
i have been keeping the Ph around 5.5-6.5
the nutes around 700-750 ppm, lights on all day long and the growth is phenomenal
here they are today

these guys are really growing man, absolutely gorgeous
little things arent they. i have also finished
putting the liner in the bottom
and sealing it up

the vent for the heat exchanger is done and sealed in

pretty soon i will be moving these guys down taking clones and starting the new batch.
i havent even constructed my channels yet
i dont have tubes running to and fro but they are coming soon. and i still need to get a bulb for my tube
as well as a fan to pull air through it. i am trying to do everything on a strict budget
but so far the rest of the stuff i am going to need is going to cost
some money. so until next time thanx for viewing and remember to post your comments in muy other thread. if you read this far you know where that is. c-ya
