Some serious fun right there. Studs! Congrats man.
Just another day on the river ;). Def some fun.
Got some egg for steelies. Best part is nobody knows yet so have the holes to myself. Just had to mean mug some googans and yell at em till they left.
It's still just the beginning of the skein bite. On a hot day 20-30 fish isn't an uncommon thing. (Well for us locals at least)

Nice. That's not my net, it's my buddies. Mine is much bigger it's a lucky strike net. I changed the basket out for a rubberized one. Lol. I have nets for every type of occasion. Many of which I have found, and fixed up with better net material
Keep an eye out at garage sales, flea markets etc...
They got some new ones in at the Home Hardware for $40 so I grabbed one of those. 18" handle that pulls out to 32" and when pushed in you push the button to take it off and can reverse it and plug it in from the inside so the handle goes across the net and makes it easy to stow a way when not needed. A little bigger might be better but should work fine for me. I have a big old salmon net with the string netting but I wouldn't trust it to lift a Tyee out of the water. The new one has the rubber coated netting.

:peace:

Rainbows this weekend? Hmmm me thinks.
Been fun putting the boots to the kings but nothing like some fresh steel on the pin. Still undecided. Likely do both. Lol

What were you using for them cats during the day?
So my goto bait for cats, at night, is either cut anchovy popsicle. Sardine popsicle or my absolute favorite was chicken liver soaked in wd40 and then refrozen before we go out that night. Yeah yeah yeah, I wouldn’t do it anymore. But anyways, not at clear lake which i dunno, but so many other lakes around and the delta, the cats just don’t feed off stink bait coming up the banks during the day as they do at night.
So on the lakes. The early bite for the kokes and bows would die down and I would set up on the corner of a cove and bang out some blue gills. Put a hook in that fucker and huck it into that cove. That’s how I figured out how to catch the big ones during the daytime.

Chicken liver that I let sit out over night. I put that on a double hook surf leader with a 5oz weight at the bottom(I use 12 oz in the delta due to current).

My rods both have baitrunners so that weight allows the fish to get stuck enough by the hook so it keeps in the mouth as it runs.

I have a top notch hookup ratio with this.

But yea. Chicken live left out over night to toughen and get even more disgusting lol.

Some day i’ll go fish clear lake. It’s notorious for the largemouth and cats. What i don’t like about my local lake, lake oroville is all the small mouth and spotted. Lame imo. Pretty good crappie and landlocked king fishing. There’s cats in here too though for sure.

I personally love Smallies. They fight so good. Lol. But a huge Largemouth or a massive Catfish for sure is preferable.
Well i don’t know if you’ e ever fished lake oroville but it’s kinda nicknamed the bass lake of Ca.
I’ll take the blacks/largemouth any day over catching 50+ on oroville. It’s too easy
