The fishing thread ( not about fish fertilizer)

Most the smallies I catch in the river there are around that size. Even the rockbass are decent sized. Miss the cats though. Some turd a few doors down installed a rock pier out into the water changing the flow of the reverse eddy he had going there. The deeper part filled in with mud and silt and the cats stopped coming in to feed and such. Haven’t caught one in years.

How am I the only person here actively fishing? Shit I tore my calf muscle and still got out lol.
I actually saw a post from you growing plants. I thought you were just a fisherman only but you’re a gardener also. I’m glad your feeling better and able to get out fish.

well maybe I am fishing for likes and I even stressed my carpal tunnel typing this. Lol

Seriously though i am still thinking of fishing quite often. I am happy that you’re sharing your time out on the water, also a bit jealous. I recently purchased some spinner making components, feathers, beads, blades, wire, and hooks. I used to buy the feathered hooks to make the spinners but I am going to try and tie them myself. I plan to go up north and pick up the rest of my tackle making equipment and parts so I can get back into it. I also have a 12’ semi “V” aluminum boat to bring back home.

Put together a spinner for us real fast and post a pic. I never got into lure making but it does sound like fun.

My wire bending tool and loop maker are with the rest of my stuff at my parents house. I can’t make the wire spinners now but I have a bunch that I made around 40 + years ago. I have enough of the spinners in the first pic although they need a cleaning. Maybe if I would get them wet……
The 2nd pic of the feathered spinners are my favorite spinners, best used trolling with a nightcrawler on it. But also work well casting if you add a little more weight. These also need the tools to make. When I get my tackle building stuff, my dad is going to give me his fly tying equipment so I can make the feathered hooks.
The third pic is a monofilament spinner with a #6 hook that i use for brook trout. These I could make now but don’t need them because it’s too warm for trout fishing.

They are nothing real fancy but have always worked wherever I use them.

One keeper one just short.
I really want a fishing kayak. One the ones with the foot pedals ect. $$ though.

My grandfather was a trapper and made custom poles in Mendon MI. My dad still has a hand full of rods from him. For fathers day I bought him a pflueger reel and some gear so he could update one of them. He's offered for me to rummage through the ones he has in storage and pickup something out to do the same.

Fishing kayaks especially the ones with PDL drive are very expensive yes. Lol. I almost bought one but then I decided to go real ridiculous and got a twin troller x10.

Then I went even more ridiculous and added a 6hp mercury motor, a helix 5 down/side imaging fishing finder, and upgraded the propellers on the trolling motors to steel weed cutting.

I absolutely love the thing. Use it on a weakly basis.

Those would be good for kokanee. I haven't seen a lure holder like that in forever.
