The Facts about GM Food.

Well, let me just state something which should be obvious. We are in a pickle. There are only two options open to us.

1.) Reduce the worlds population.
2.) Increase the food supply if you don't succeed at #1.

GM foods have much to offer and can be the answer to #2.

It's a hard choice for some, but not for me.

okay, 1- i think we need to reduce the population, it will solve 101 problems.

2- GM food does not produce a higher yield than regular food, fine me any proof (other than Monsanto's website) that it makes more food.

i typed into google "gm crops increase yield" and these are what i found

http://www.countercurrents.org/sharma210309.htm

http://www.centerforfoodsafety.org/WhoBenefitsPR2_13_08.cfm

http://www.organicconsumers.org/articles/article_17250.cfm

http://www.africanconservation.org/dcforum/DCForumID35/193.html

Monsanto can say whatever they want about there own product and naturally they will say that gm crops increase yield. and notice how any of the few sites that say it does list Monsanto's website as there only source, and/or are funded by Monsanto.

1 is unobtainable......

GM food is not about increasing yields, but I'm sure they will. It is about saving crops which we currently lose today. They are already working on a roundup resistant soy bean....which means you could cheaply round up a field with a crop duster and fry everything in the field EXCEPT the Soy...... that's a darn good improvement.

GM crops will be able to be grown in areas which are now not arable.

how would i do this?
okay, im not an expert at this but i would establish rules. like no killing. no hiding sterilization in corn, or anything else for that matter. no intentionally harming the people. i personally would do this by promoting programs like planned parenthood, and making abortions legal, and offering $ to couples to have 2 or less children. we dont have to reduce the population right now. we can do it the right way, and take 500 years if need be.

and as for the GM crops, i think there sort of like medicare and social security, in the sense that they have good intentions initially but its going to end up being a big stink in the end, except this is one of our 3 basic needs and people will die when this shits the bed. just look up Monsanto's terminator seeds. all's a terrorist would have to do is wipe out those fields and the following year 1/2 of America would starve to death.

I doubt we'll have to wait long for a reduction in population. Too many shady players with the potential to posses nukes.

well I hate to spoil your fun. but that just simply wont work.
if you want to get serious about reducing population, you need to be open to suggestions like mediceman said, nuke em!

why wont it work over a 500 year period? that seems like enough time. look up china's one child policy. also we could implement the death penalty and get rid of welfare. there's so many things we can do

Strange, I believe that Hitler had similar aspirations.

In Poland he wanted to kill all the Polish for more lebensraum.

In Russia he wanted to kill all the Russians for more lebensraum.

Either you people are idiots or you are NAZI-Wanna Bes, either way it's disgusting how you imbeciles so callously discuss killing off people or forcing people to be sterilized, or bribing them to be so.

Killing people, sterilization, and any other method of reducing the population is not a viable solution.

I got it, we can sterilize all the politicians first, and then we can sterilize all the dumb asses that want to sterilize any one else.

Malthusians, and Malthus was proven wrong. Every time some imbecile claims we are about to starve ourselves to death technological advances show them to be wrong in their assumptions.

As far as GM crops, :: shrugs :: as long as it's food, and it's not poisonous why do I care if it has been genetically engineered?

whats strange is the poster about pro life is also the most hateful and disrespectful, judgemental poster in the thread.
hmmm, strange

and by the way. I dont think population control is a good idea, thats why I was interested in how he suggested we do this.

you need to calm down bro, calling names over the internet is childish.

The main problem with having enough food to feed the world really does not have much to do with genetically engineered foods, it has more to do with oil than anything. According to some scientists the world on a whole saw peak oil in 2008, every year from here on out will produce a bit less oil. The problem is that agriculture is extremely dependent on oil for not only fuel, but wait wait here it comes....FERTILIZER! 95% of fertilizer is made from OIL, the less oil the less fert, the less fert the less food there is. Also consider how much of the food you buy at your grocery store was shipped by rail or truck to get there. You start reducing the output of oil and you start incurring higher costs to ship food, to harvest food and to fertilize food, not a good outcome for those countries that cannot support their populations with food grown locally. This in iteself will probably starve billions of people in the long run.

GM food cannot reproduce, it is made sterile so that you will have to buy seed every year to plant your crops. Thats how they are able to Patent and sell their seed at a profit.

Engineered natural disasters, tainted food/water/vaccines/pharmaceuticals, war, engineered pestilence, harmful radiation that emits from electronic devices.

That's how you depopulate. 500 million is there goal, they've already started the process. Look at the food you are eating.
Cheap unhealthy fast food on every corner. Look at the lack of exercise in many many people. Pills that cause more sickness and/or brain damage. Massive addiction to alcohol and other harmful drugs.

You think this crap is accidentally poisonous? There is way too much genetically modified food out there, God knows how that is effecting YOUR genetics. Animals used for food are pumped full of antibiotics and steroids...

Genetically modified food isn't contagious......
Not contagious, but certainly addictive. :)

I just say fuck it all. I'll grow my own veggies and fruits, and buy meat from local farms. Keep up with daily exercise, take vitamins and whatnot. I tell you... I feel great! Never sick. I never really got sick in the first place, but no signs whatsoever these days. My mind is clear, I can think straight and critically. My body has no pains. Mind you, I also stay away from pharmaceuticals.

It's like the native Indians that live on their own without all the societal bullshit. They are machines. :blsmoke:
