The Duggars Are Done

it says josh confessed to his wife before he got married.
Check this out. Just two days ago, an Arkansas judge ordered Josh Duggar's molestation police investigation records to be destroyed.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/tv/2015/05/23/josh-duggar-records-destroyed/27837149/

Arkansas police have destroyed the records of Josh Duggar's nearly decade-old molestation case.

Springdale Police spokesman Scott Lewis told the Associated Press that Judge Stacey Zimmerman ordered the 2006 offense report destroyed Thursday. Zimmerman didn't return a request for comment on Friday.

"The judge ordered us yesterday to expunge that record," Lewis said, adding that similar records are typically kept indefinitely. "As far as the Springdale Police Department is concerned this report doesn't exist."

The move came a day after the 19 Kids and Counting reality TV personality resigned his position as a lobbyist for the Family Research Council after news of sexual misconduct allegations from his teenage years surfaced.

Meanwhile, TMZ is reporting that Duggar has withdrawn from an Ohio homeschooling convention he'd been scheduled to attend.

"Making Sense by Michael Reagan

I don’t care how popular the Duggar family and their TLC reality show “19 Kids & Counting” is with Christian conservatives.

I don’t care how many Republican presidential hopefuls Josh Duggar posed with in Iowa, or how important his celebrity was to the Family Research Council, the conservative Christian lobbying group.

When the Duggar family’s oldest son admitted he had molested and fondled five little girls — including some of his own sisters — when he was 14, it was time for conservative Christians to hold Josh and the Duggar family accountable for their actions.

Most didn’t.

Also, I noticed, most of those who want to be the GOP’s president in 2016 bit their tongues and pretended they hadn’t heard the shocking news.

But not Mike Huckabee, the ordained Southern Baptist minister. He really blew it.

Rushing to his Facebook page, he said he and his wife affirmed their support for the Duggar family. He said what Josh did was “inexcusable” but not “unforgivable.”

“Good people make mistakes and do regrettable and even disgusting things,” Huckabee wrote.

Almost 70,000 of Huckabee’s Facebook followers “liked” what he said, but he was completely wrong.

Child molesting is not a “mistake” you make when you’re young. It’s a crime against the innocent that should be prosecuted — and one I believe that should have no statute of limitations. In fact, the statute of limitations is only there to protect the guilty, not protect the innocent.

As we wait for more shoes to drop in this scandal, I have some uncomfortable questions people should be asking.

Let’s start with Josh, who’s now 27, has three kids and is no longer the executive director of the Family Research Council.
Was he a born a molester? Was he molested as a child?

Were other members of Josh’s huge family molested? Should he be in therapy now? Are his own kids safe?

Child molesting is evil, sad, disgusting stuff. I know. I was molested by a camp counselor when I was eight. Though my father wanted to kick his butt when he found out 34 years later, my molester never paid for his “mistake.” But I did.

Child molesting is often covered up — and most often it’s the family itself that protects the molester.

Did Duggar’s parents put their commercial success ahead of holding Josh accountable? Were they afraid to lose the national platform TLC gave them for their strict brand of Christian family values?

And speaking of TLC, shouldn’t we be asking its executives what they knew about Josh’s “mistake” and when they knew it? Did they care more about ratings and revenues than doing what was right?

Republicans and conservatives should be asking the people who run the Family Research Council the same tough ethical questions.

If it turns out they knew about Josh’s past and were still willing to hire him because of his celebrity, the FRC’s credibility is finished. Everything it believes in and has fought for will be lost. This scandal was a good time to do more than just fire Josh Duggar from the FRC and put the TV show on hold. It was also an opportunity to hold Josh accountable for his actions. But that didn’t happen.

As for Huckabee, I also have some questions.

If you found out tomorrow that Barack Obama had molested his young nieces when he was 14, would you call that “a mistake” and say you were willing to forgive him?

What if teen-age Barack had been caught molesting, was reprimanded and was then caught molesting again a year later?
Would you still say no purpose would be served by discrediting Barack Obama or his family by “sensationalizing” the story? I bet not.

We all know why Huckabee blew it. He had Iowa on his mind, not God.

He didn’t want to lose the support of the Duggar family or his Christian base, so he decided to call Josh Duggar’s child molesting a “mistake.”

But child molesting is never a mistake. No matter who does it, it’s always a felony. And it’s not something a cable network or a family is ever entitled to cover up."

I agree on all of the above and it certainly appears that the Duggars put money before honor and truth on this one

Look's Like the senior Duggar (the dad) wasn't the only one who thought about this in terms of money. TLC (if they knew) is just as guilty. At least they removed the program, but I'm always skeptical of networks/corporations. The dollar always comes first with them.

Yes. @Padawanbater2 while I agree with most of this post, I am always suspect when I read statements like "most didn't." Again, how does the writer know that? I don't care for Huckabee but Mike Raegan (from this article anyway) clearly manages to dog out Mike H. (and conservatives) while he was making valid) points about accountability.

What should be focused on here is that innocent kids were hurt, and that Josh Duggar's wife is married to a pedophile. By having anything to do with him going forward is basically telling her children that she doesn't give a shit that she's putting them at risk.

Aside from Reagan, I haven't really heard many conservatives condemning Duggar's actions, even over at /r/conservative on Reddit. Maybe the condemnation is drowned out by the replies people like Huckabee have given, but I'm sure that's what he was referring to in this article

You're probably right, but do you have an example?

Also, while I tend to agree with you when it comes to politicians, liberal people most likely wouldn't. I remember Daniel Tosh did a rape joke on stage and progressives gave him so much shit it nearly ended his career, Jon Stewart, Colbert and Oliver cross the partisan line pretty often and criticize Obama or liberal politicians. You certainly don't see that coming from the right even in extreme circumstances (like molesting 5 young girls)

Politicians side step anything that would hurt their careers. PERIOD. There are countless examples from BOTH sides.

Like I said, I don't disagree with you, I was just wondering if you had an example

We're talking about something that holds a religious aspect to it, which is why I believe conservatives would be much more inclined to forgive and forget when it comes to something like child molestation than progressives would

I'm sure you would agree with that, right?

the right wing candidates are doing the opposite!

right wingers are going out of their way to mollycoddle and congratulate this kiddy diddler.
I googled the quote and found this
http://www.politifact.com/texas/statements/2015/may/28/facebook-posts/made-ted-cruz-quotation-has-texan-comparing-child-/

Just the first site that came up but appears that is a fake. Please don't post anymore pics of that pedo Josh duggar. He's plain creepy.

It's so scuzzy that ANYONE is posing for pictures with him.

meh, still kinda sounds like something he'd say. kind of sad that we both thought that might just be true and even had to look it up.

Not exactly. I'm thinking of Roman Polansky and Woody Allen right now. Woody Allen's own daughter took out an ad in a major NP (can't remember which) explaining how her father molested her for years. This is not Sun Yi, this is ANOTHER daughter. Granted there are no police reports to substantiate it, but people still flock to his movies (despite Mia Farrow's accusations)

Michael Jackson, same thing. I think in the latter we do have documentation of molestation. Yet people still bought his records and praised him for his other talents. Tons of celebrities (and I'll bet none are conservative) stand behind both of these men.

They all forgave and forgot didn't they?

Did anyone ever praise any of those men after the fact?

I'm a Michael Jackson fan, but I don't condone his actions. Dudes like Huckabee stood up and made a statement about it. There's a big difference there that I feel like you're ignoring

Are you serious?? Of course they did. Celebs came out of the woodwork coming to MJ's defense, despite proof that he did molest boys. It cme out in the news a few years ago that a few received settlements in lieu of pressing charges. Many celebs did, even almost verbatim (as the mike huckabee pic buck posted) phrases like "I don't condone his actions, but I haven't walked a mile in his shoes." come to mind (I'm talking about an interview with a celeb talking about MJ, can't remember who, it was so long ago but I remember that statement left an impression on me. I'll remember… Whoopie Goldberg maybe? Give me a minute I'll remember.

. There's a big difference there that I feel like you're ignoring
I'm not ignoring anything, just pointing out that most people will make excuses or avoid the subject all together if it means they would have to choose between the high ground and buying a pedophile's records. Same goes for sticking with a candidate, or role model (not sure WHAT do call Josh pedo) or whatever. Their "standards" seem to take a back seat to a celebrity or a political agenda.

Look at all the 'outrage' when Dolce and Gabanna publicly stated they didn't agree with gay marriage. Elton huffed and puffed and encouraged ppl to boycott them. Within a month the hype evaporated. Looks like folks would rather buy their clothing than stand behind their convictions. Happens all the time.

In Mike Huckabee's case, I think it hurts him more than it helps him to 'forgive and forget' Josh Duggar's actions. Many Christians are confused as to what forgiveness means. It means in a sense to let it go so it doesn't eat YOU up, NOT to pretend it never happened or failing to hold someone accountable for wrong.
