i was scared for years myself.

i have been going to medicann but they pissed me off last year and i told them i wouldn't come back. now i've waited to the last minute and may just end up going back there. i'm waiting on copies of my medical records, then i'll take care of this real quick.

It's great to be in Cali. and have a med card. It's almost like a get out of jail free card. As long as you just follow some simple rules. :)

Mine recomendation just expired here on 04-25-10 but I am debating if i would like to renew it. The fee isn't the problem, but I just don't see the need as the "blackmarket" (around here anyways) provide me with better medication, for a lower donation. Not to mention I am 1000% positive the medicine I am getting is 100% organic. Now how many clinics can offer that? I have found some, but that service usually comes with a higher price tag.

My other reason for not renewing has to do with my career choice. I am studying to become an orthopedic surgeon, and medical marijuana doesn't look too good, as it's still in a "grey area"

I need to renew my in June - It will be my 5th renewal.

we should start a thread with a list of legitimate doctors, as I have had a few friends who have gotten there recommendations only to find out later they were fake.

You should not fear this, most of the times the doctor will say something along these lines " Medical MJ can help you with ________. Do you have _______?" You say yes, and your on your way =P

FDD, I found my doctor listed in canorml.org, just picked him out of the list (he was closest) and walked in with my medical records.

He's legit, just down the street from my house, and charges half of what medicann does. As part of our contract he'll subpoena the courts if I'm ever arrested for pot, and he'll sue any state officer if they report me to the feds. What service. ;-)

Here's a link to a list CA MJ doctors:

http://www.canorml.org/prop/215physicians.html

PS: I've been burned by fake doctors before too. Just make sure you'll talk to a "doctor" and not a "physicians assistant" and make sure the certificate or card they'll give you has an original signature, no proxies.

Beyond that, what matters most is that their office is available to receive calls on your behalf whenever. Wouldn't want to be sitting in lock up overnight, or over the weekend, while they try to get in touch with your physician.

i have to renew next week. i think this will be my 6th year. i'm getting my state ID card as well.
I don't need to renew until late July. I was wondering about getting the State Card but have been reluctant to do so.

If you could give us some insight into the process, etc. and the expected benefit it would be greatly appreciated.

For $120 or so dollars to get your medical marijuana recommendation is the smart way to go about it. Think about it as taking out an insurance policy on your life. If something happens you want to make sure you are protected. So what if you can get better organic meds on the black market...it isn't about getting your bud...any High School Freshman can get bud....it is making sure that you dont go to jail for what you thought would be a minor infraction....the law does not provide shelter for someone operating even an inch outside the law and can lead to harsh penalties...do sign up get your "card"

i get the state card for several reason:

it's cool to show off.

i feel that if i ever am "spoken to" away from my home it will add a little extra "security". i feel if confronted by law enforcement they will see that i am doing my best to be 'legal".

it is recognized state wide as a state approved verification.

i want to be counted as a smoker. the more people that have state cards the more people get counted as smokers. this helps when people start throwing numbers around.

it's only a few dollars, looking at the BIG picture.

it's quick, easy and requires very little. you fill out a simple form and they take your pic. they then varify that you are legal and issue you a card that only has your pic and a number. your name is never used once you are verified. the card is just a second form of verification.

you can never be too safe.

My Medical Recommendation is good until July 30. Do you think I should try and get a State card now or wait until I renew again?

hmmmm, good question. if you have the money, but then again it's only a few months away.
Isn't the State Card good forever?

Regardless let me know how it goes, I'm sure you will have more information once you get your State Card.

Thanks bongsmilie
