The Chronikool of the Crytochrome and the all Conquering Cree™

Not really...but yes in this micro grow.... the reason that there is blue in there is because i was doing a blue experiment for initiating flowering. And you want to keep plantz short.

Maybe try a pair of 4000k 2350 cxbs by cree...should be ample light and simple construction
Those are 60watt bulbs a peice (assuming you mean the 2530, I don't see any 2350 models)

120watts seems like a lot for such a small grow.

I'm thinking more about efficiency and color temperature when it comes to bulbs.

"Did you have a mechanism for raising/lowering the led panel?"

No need....no pointz of light to burn plants...and keepz thingz simple
I meant for getting more light to the plants

"What do you consider the best brand/models for leds? 1watt vs 3watt vs 5 watt and what online store do you buy them from?"

Cree. Ok....got to try change the way you look at this. Cree for example have a xm-l2 led. It is 10w IF run at 3A....it is only 5w if run at 1500mA...so it dependz how hard you run them.
Got mine at fasttech i think
Different bulbs are designed for different wattages/voltages, I'm curious if one is more efficient than the others.

"How many watts do you think is ideal per square foot? I know LED people measure things differently."
I dont really care....my plantz will tell me if they need more light... :)
I would like to not over-power such a small setup which is why i'm asking.

The grow you linked you were using some kind of white LED strip light, not the panel in the pictures. :(

~30W per square feet, with CREE/VERO, COBS is what most of us here at RIU go by.

Not sure where you get 60w's from.....? You have to look at the driver you are using to determine the watts...

2 x 4000k 2530 Cree CXB.... 2 x300mA drivers.....run them soft.... be about 30-35 watts each
Enough blue in there....simple as....

61 watts is max power for the 2530 ran at 1.8 amps.

Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Rollitup mobile app

Learning about LEDS as I go.

http://www.cree.com/led-components-and-modules/products/xlamp/arrays-nondirectional/xlamp-cxa2530

Their cree page only lists the maximum wattage (65w) but now I know that at lower voltages LEDS are more efficient and at lower voltages they draw less wattage.

Right now I'm trying to find efficiency levels of 2-5 watt bulbs, the other threads show that 40-45% efficiency is a good level for 10+ watt bulbs.

I guess it depends on how complicated you want to make your build....the 4000k will cover a pretty full spectrum

It will also depend on how long you want to use the micro cab for before you want to go bigger....but it is a good way to try your 'DIY LED hand' before stepping up. :)

I don't really intend on scaling up.

What I was planning on doing was getting some 5ish watt leds so I could mix it up a bit, put a few 2700's, a few 6000's along with my 4000k's.

Maybe like:
15 watts of 4k
10 watts of 2700k
10 watts of 6k

I believe the smaller cxb crees or vero 10's are in the ballpark for this?

(Just starting to understand LEDS now)

Like chicken obviously ;-).........chroni had been fending off those green peace assholes for decades, won't let them get in the way from eating his "delicatessen" and fertilizer...
