Basically, if you order a light such as Timber, NGL etc in the USA for $700usd it means this:
$700usd to Cdn = $950cdn.
Once it hits the border you get charged tax. Add at least 7% or basically $70cdn = $1020
Add shipping ($100-$200usd) = $1170 minimum
Add duty or 7% (estimate) = $1240.
That is a low estimate and doesn't include any other fee's shippers or the border adds on.
So this puts you in the category of ordering a 400w Vero setup from Timber for $579 which would leave you change.
Or spend a couple more hundred and get a 600w Vero from Timber for about $950usd but this would push you up to the $1500cdn mark (ish).
Where do you live? Maybe you're close enough I could help build one for you. BCblondes makes cob lights but they are basically out of stock. They do have 2 x 225w lights on their website which uses good Cree cobs. Maybe talk to them and they can build you a light in your price range. I think they are based out of BC.
