The Cardboard Box Method

Do you suddenly have to leave the country tomorrow? For a month? I see people in this situation on a regular basis asking how they can chop now and somehow get their plant into jars in just 1 day. The usual responses are as follows:

- "water cure it"
- "make honey oil with the whole harvest... sorry, you should have planned better"
- "quick dry in the toaster, then put it in the jar.... and throw a boveda 62% pack in"
- "inject nitrogen to keep oxygen out"
- "use dry ice to keep oxygen out"

... and the list of bad suggestions goes on and on....

Here's a fool proof method that people have been using since people started using good methods:

Get a medium sized cardboard box, put a piece of paper in, put a layer of fresh buds on. (cut the buds off the stems). Put a piece of paper on that, put a layer of fresh buds on that. Put a piece of paper on that, then put a layer of fresh buds on that. 3 layers per box. Close the box. Forget the jar.

Come back from your trip in one month and the weed is amazing. Be glad you didn't try any of the options on the list provided above.

If you are there to monitor the box, it's good to move around the weed just to be absolutely sure no mold grows, although that is very unlikely if healthy weed goes in. The cardboard does a very good job of wicking and evaporating outside the box. It causes a very even dry every time.

After a few days, you can mix the 3 layers into 1 layer to slow drying, and wrap the box in plastic wrap.

I've found buds in trim buckets months later. Was really good smoke. no kidding.
I go to the trim box for smoke all the time. Helps me actually cure the good stuff. An yea I've found awesome nugs buried in trim which was months old.

I was thinking the other day could weed be dried ASAP kinda of how Mushrooms can be dried. Using baked Epsom salts to pull all h2o from product.
I know that dripping wet boomers can be crispy in a day useing a sealed container with the Epsom salt. Hmmm?

I grew about 8 lbs of cubes 4-5 years ago ( an experiment )...I used a food dehydrator to dry the shrooms...thanks for the idea...I'll sacrifice a few buds to see how long buds need to get to 60%...;))

You actually can use drying salts. I didn't know shroom growers used epsom salts, but you could also use calcium chloride (damp rid) to do the same thing very well. Calcium chloride will keep pulling moisture out of the air until it's a puddle of saltwater.

In a closed environment, calcium chloride can actually do a good job replacing a full dehumidifier. If you had the boxes in a basement, you could a damprid setup next to the boxes to make the outside of the boxes dryer.

Of course you could also just use a dehumidifier.

I think the magnesium sulfate works cause it has 7h2o molecules which when cooked out makes the leftover sucks water to remake the chemicle makeup. I'm and by no means any kind of chemist so very well could be way off

Anhydrous Magnesium Sulfate is by far superior to damp-rid in many ways, First its a much stronger dessicant , its cheaper , you can tell by the collor of the crystals when their about full, Its safe to ingest , and does not impart flazors

Anhydrous Magnesium Sulfate, is used in labs to remove the last remaning amounts of water in solvents like acetone, and alchol
