the big bang mh vs hps during veg!!

Ok so heres somethin i want hard evidence on!!
Wot are the varibles between mh and hps durin veg?
When to switch to hps for flower after using mh for veg?
And why mh is not used more than hps by people like myself during veg? Ill take cost out the question as money is not a problen for me and just want to know why it is nt used more often?

mh is meant to give the plants better lumens shorter node spacing and deeper penetration for strong growth hps is ok for veg but the red makes them stretch alittle hps for flower when u switch to 12/12 but also adding mh at end of flower could help in resin production thats what i heard ive never tried it yet..

Hhahaha. Chedz managed to post a link. Ive always used MH from start to finish. Always have bushy plants and decent bud. Ive never used HPS but I just think, the more light the better. I think it would be ideal to use both. Also LED's would be the best for vegging. IMO

Eyup lads just bought wows 400w mh bulb and digi ballast havent looked into them yet and was thinkin of usin it for veg so should be good help this thread nice 1 cheds!!

ive read a few times that although the yield might be less but bud grown with just m.h will be slighty stronger than hps??? dunno how true that is tho? also read and seen on a few big grows on line where the have a good mix of the 2 both light spectrums is spose to be good???

Yeh i herd the quality of the bud is better but the yield is slightly less but if you mix mh hps its bang on!!

Ok so why are so many people in the dark about mh compaired to hps surely to maximise potency and yeild you d wanna use both if you got the money to buy them ill be runnin mh on my next run in veg so i can compair notes i av jotted down over the years just cant get my head around why peeps aint using them more often ill b the first to admit that i dont know much about them only that they are ment to give you more nodes per inch which im happy about but is it that much more than hps to justify using them!!

Use MH for Veg. HPS for flower. Another good topic is flouro or Mh. Half a grow under t5's sounds very good?

I have an older 1000w sunleaves ballast. runs cool n quiet. Came out of a grow warehouse so I imagine it got many many hours of use. Yet its still bangin!

Selling it now though. Currently running LED for veg. Switching to t5's in veg. and throwing my LED's to suppliment my hps in flower.

t5 is better than mh for veg IMO

well in nature every morning the light starts very red then moves to yellow then more on the blue side during the day then back to red before night , near the autum the sun isnt as high in the sky so the light leans more towards the red spectrum but there is still lots of blue light , for me the ideal set up would me metal halide veg then joint MH and HPS for flowering, I think there are bulbs with both available , but as for experience I have only use MH for veg and HPS for flower so probably not much help lol

the MH i use is a vetura and its 250 w the plants dont stretch so i presume the light is sufficient
and the HPS is son-t argo also a vetura 400w seems to do the trick but i have nothing to compare it to

PAR light is a term bulb manufacturr's will through arund and its a measurement of available light to be absorbed,

MH produce more par light in more spectrum and this is what promotes even symmetrical node inter spacing and growth, i have heard other growers, i trust, that from a plant that has a combination of hps and MH has the perfect light source

if you look at your cfl they have a rating well so does MH and HPS and blue spectrum promotes noding and braching, plants actually react to blue light by natural bending and branching out, look up Blue light photo response
