I was wondering what the best type of water to grow in is.

Can i put a water butt in the back garden to collect the rain water or will it be too contaminated with garden matter???
and what is rain water like to use????

i use 1/4 gallon tap water 1/4 gallon mineral or drinking water and 1/2 distilled with 2 tsp of molasses. tap for hard minerals and trace stuff (i have very bad tap here) drinking water for its mineral content and distilled for a more even ph and molasses for nutes.

tis gud

Well, I don't grow hydro, but I do collect rainwater, because my tap water is basically poison, lol. My rain water is ph 7.0, and 2 ppm.My plants really love it. But hydro growers need a lower ph than soil growers.

i used water from the water cooler at work for my last grow, begining to end and never had to adjust it once, the smoke was possibly the best ive ever had. as it is that could be from strain, or all around growing situation but it was great

I like the *idea* of rainwater, but I do not want to introduce anything from outside to the inside. Too worried about bugs and diseases. Maybe I'd be more tempted if my ordinary tap water didn't produce such good results.

I'd say add one part of peroxide to it if you were worried about that, or boil it.
