The atrocity called the RNC convention

Watching this convention, I have completely lost all hope for the Republican party. The whole thing was faked and claimed as a working convention. Any objections to rules changes or nominee picks were ignored. All calls for divisions were ignored, meaning they did not count votes. The teleprompter was even filmed, showing that the whole thing was scripted and any objections were prescripted to be ignored. The RNC implemented a rules change which mandated that a candidate must now have a plurality in 8 states instead of 5. Ron Paul had a plurality of 6 states, so after the rules change, his votes weren't even acknowledged. The change in the rules allowed for Rmoney to replace delegates in states to his liking. There was much objection to the rules change, as it took away states power in the GOP process. This objection came not only from Ron Paul supporters, but many others with common sense. A woman was even assaulted for passing around a petition to the rules change.

"At one point, the male delegate from Massachusetts (Devito) snatched it out of the hands of the lady (Senator Sitte) from North Dakota, refusing to give it back after repeated demands, resulting in a shoving match when the delegate from Colorado came to her defense."

It was a disgusting display of a "democratic process" and really shows the stranglehold that the two party system has on our political system. All signs were confiscated, and participants were only allowed to have standard MITT signs that were passed out. Isn't the whole point of the convention to elect candidates and adopt rules changes? What is the point of having a delegate process if this is how it is run? If delegates are exactly proportional from now on to the popular vote, and delegates have no say, wtf is the point? We might as well just let the GOP leaders pick the candidate, since they do anyway. Might as well be honest about the process and not let us vote.

Anyways, any further attempts to try and work together with Republicans is history for me. There whole message is fake, the GOP leadership preaches rugged individualism for everyone but themselves. What a giant farce. I ain't mad though, I am happy to be moving on from the obsurdity that is the GOP. I knew they were corrupt, but this really opened my eyes.

Well good thing libertarians waking up to the fact that governments are criminal organizations no matter how you slice it there is no one who will ever hold those with a monopoly on power accountable and monopolies of power with no accountability will only ever attract criminals.
This is the biggest flaw with libertarianism is that it inevitably creates the same monstrous government it opposes eventually.

I doubt if very many here remember the days when the party's nominee and their running mate were selected at the convention but I understand your frustration. Change comes slowly and when I see how far the Liberty movement has come since 4 years ago, I'm more optimistic. I also think it is easier to take over an established party than it is to start a new party or try to get the Libertarian Party raised to a level where they have a chance.
The shenanigans pulled last week will come back to bite the Republican establishment on the ass. We have decades of apathy and brainwashing to overcome, it's not going to happen overnight.

I just don't see one of the major political parties as a vehicle to freedom. Nothing will come from the shenanigans, they will simply lose the election and blame Ron Paul's crazy constituents.

In the history of our planet, individual freedom is still a new idea. It got off to a rocky start and has been dealt a punishing blow but it is still there and still growing. I think, more and more people will look at what the elite power brokers have done to suppress their voices and decide to take a stand. I just hope it happens before it is too late for a peaceful change.

Since AuH₂O ran in '64.
Goldwater supported desegregation and civil rights to varying degrees. He got himself into political hot water, however, with his opposition to legislation that would eventually turn into the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Goldwater was a passionate Constitutionalist, who had supported the NAACP and had backed previous versions of civil rights legislation, but he opposed the 1964 bill because he believed it violated states’ rights to self-govern. His opposition earned him political support from conservative southern Democrats, but he was detested as a “racist” by many blacks and minorities.

Which only shows that the misinformation/propaganda tactic was being used back then, also.
