ok I really confirmed that Ag nutes Do turn them yellow... I used the first sprouting nutes (2 before sprout) then 2 more after 2 weeks..... thats why the yellow color......

Im not going to use more AG nutes until the buds start growing.... if they r females tho... lol..

Do you think I should change the water ? or just leave it like that, and thanks of the constant h2o refills the concentration of nutes will decrease... what do u think ?

the pH is 6.... I check it every 3 days...

Thnx

You see, the yellowing is probobly caused because there isn't enough of some nutrient in the tablet or because there is too much of any one nutrient in the tablet....

These tablets are specifically designed for the plants they come with....

They might work during flowering but I wouldn't count on it....Get some real nutes for a hydro system if you want the plants to be healthy...

They are still growing but I think if I dont do something they are going to die.. :S....

I washed the water container and putted clean water....

now, if I buy this Hydro nutes you tek tell me, do you think they are going to heal ?

A friend told me that I have to give them less light, Im giving them 18 hours, but until I dont buy this hydro nutes Im not going to give them more that 14..

Please help me I really dont want them to die:confused:

First, big-sticky-green-ups to Teknique70 for being such a pioneer and sharing the love. I am new to the list and just love this thread. How cool! :peace:

Okay, now down to business... The following adds to the "Free Pump" info noted earlier by other helpful R.I.U. peeps, and gives you a special bonus!

I don't own one of these yet, but I saw one in a Sur La Table and thought it looked great. That led me to a Web search to see if anyone was using it for this purpose and that's how I found my new best friends at R.I.U. I did a lot of catch-up on the thread before placing an order for one... And here is what I can report...

If you want to buy one of these things, call customer service at AeroGarden to tell them that you already bought one several months ago as a gift for your mother and that SHE LOVES IT... (Also, be sure to say you bought it at a retail store somewhere. This way, they won't look for a record of your purchase in their system and if they ask you to give them more specific information about the machine, you won't be obliged to do so.)

Then tell them that just recently it started malfuntioning and the herbs look wilted. They may ask you to turn it onto the "Salad Greens" setting (24-hour spray) and listen for noise. Tell them you did that already and you hit "reset" and it just doesn't make sound anymore. They will then apologize and send you a new pump (this can be a used as a spare if your original pump still works). AND... as happened in my case, they may add a free Gourmet Herb kit to use in case your current herbs should die. This we learned earlier in this thread... But wait! There's more!

Then, and only then place your order for "ANOTHER" Aerogarden. In my case, because it was my "second purchase," I got the special return customer deal:

$129 plus $14.99 shipping (Instead of $149.00 plus $19.99 shipping). Use a credit card and you'll be able to get the unit for an initial payment of $14.99 (paying only shipping and handling for the "30-day trial period") and then 3 montly payments of about $43.00. Plus, you get a coupon for a FREE Master Gardner Kit which is specifically for growing YOUR OWN SEEDS ($39.95 value). That is, a bunch of extra empty pods and sponges, plus a years supply of their nutrients (probably not suitable for bud, but what the heck, you may want to grow tomatoes someday).

Be sure to specify that you want to use the Special Print Offer listed here:

https://www.trythegarden.com/store/step1a.php?clickname=trythegarden Home (redirect)

Then you will get all the goodies!

Also, there is a new "Pro" version of the AeroGarden coming out in May 2007. I understand that it will have more sophisticated settings and be priced somewhere over $200:

The AeroGarden Pro 100 has stainless steel trim and Adaptive Growth Intelligence that automatically adjust the water, nutrients and lights for each plant type at three specific stages of growth, from germination, to initial growth, to advanced growth. The AeroGarden Pro 100 also includes the Grow Light Replacement Reminder system and the Super Grow 24-hour light cycle. The unit is expected to have a $229.95 suggested retail price.

Happy gardening!

P.S. I ordered a "white" Aerogarden thinking that the white base would reflect more light than the black. I don't know if that will make a difference, but it is something to think about. Does anyone have thoughts on that?

Keep it groovin'

Okay as far as I have learned the strawberry setting runs 24 hrs per day. as well if you take the battery out of the machine and simply plug it into a xmas tree timer set to 12/12 I believe it will turn on to tomatoe and you will tell it to turn off before it would normally. This keeps the pump running for 12/12 as well. This is what I have learned and my girl is ony 3 weeks old so after I have some fun cloning for massive bud.. Ill let ya know how my theory went. If any one else has Ideas please let me know. Ill try to get some pics up as well as will answer any questions.
Thanks for the support

I am interested in any information on success at growing with the aerogarden. I have a lil female about 3 weeks old and have a few ideas on how to run the 12/12 cycle. Pull the battery out and plug the machine into a normal xmas tree timer. This should work but ill let you know as I find out more. I hope to share pics and info as I get it.

The "Aerospring Aeroponic Garden" is a kit now being sold by FutureGarden.com. Its a simple aeroponic system ready to go once set-up. I was building my own aero system a while ago and ended up buying their kit. While putting it all together I came across a problem or two and have workarounds here. The system is pretty simple and you can put it together in a few minutes. This is the parts list from FutureGardens website:

- (8) Grow sites with baskets
- (4) Grow site plugs
- Reservoir level indicator
- High performance mag drive pump
- LECA stone growing media
- 16oz. Above & Beyond starter kit (Vigor, Grow & Bloom)
- Tubing and garden hose fill/drain adapter
- Measures 32"x 20" x 17" tall
- Full color instructions

Here is the finished system.

Here are some of the main parts. The blue tubing doesn't fit over the RIO1100 pump.

I found some clear tubing at Home Depot which fits nicely over the pump, I also needed a half inch tube connector that attaches to the PVC ? it?s where all the small PVC parts are.

This is the manual diagram.

DIY Aerospring part-list:

- Reservoir
- Net cups
- 1/2" threaded PVC "T" Fitting
- 1/2" PVC Pipe
- Weather Stripping
- Pump
- Misters or sprayers
- Clamps
- 1/2" adapter to connect to one end of the tubing and the other to a hose to easily drain the system
- 1/2" End Cap
- A barbed adapter that has a 1/2" threaded side to go into the PVC T fitting in the other end-- make sure it fits the tube that is coming from the pump
- A drill bit for your misters and sprayers
- A 1/2" hole saw for the PVC holes and another (size dependant on type of cup) for your netcups.

DIY Aerospring building instructions:

Cut two pieces of 1/2" PVC to be a little longer than the length of your reservoir. Like the diagram, the threaded PVC fitting goes in the middle. Cut two 1/2" holes at each end so the PVC sticks out on one end, put the end cap on the other hose adapter. In the middle of the T fitting drill a hole for one mister and at each end another hole for the other two misters-- if you have more misters just line them up evenly and drill the hole. Wrap the bottom of the misters with Teflon tape and screw them in so they fit snugly. Under the T fitting, screw in the barbed adapter and put the tubing on it, then place the pump in the reservoir and connect the other end of tube to the pump.

The Aerospring has a level line that helps nutrient monitoring, its 1/2" blue tubing running up the side of the reservoir from the bottom. To make this you need a 1/2" tube grommet, a 1/2" barbed "L" fitting, a clamp and some tubing. Just drill a hole near the bottom and one threw the handle of your reservoir, place the grommet in the hole at the bottom and then place the L fitting threw it. Connect the tube, then put it threw the hole at the handle for support. Use some silicone and Teflon tape to make the seal waterproof. To finish, run weather stripping along the top of the reservoir, but not where the handles go. Silicone can be found at any pet supply store and the Teflon at HomeDepot

I started with some Canadian seeds on April 1. My AG came with tomato seeds and the nutrients for tomatos. I removed the tomato seeds and replaced them with the Canada ak47 seeds. It took all my will power but I only used the three cups and only put one seed in each cup.
Questions-- Does anyone know what plat of all the diff yypes it would be best to set the AG For. I set mine for Herbs (instead of Tomatos, strawberrys, flowers etc). It seemed that the herbs would be closest in requirements to the seeds I planted. I would like to also uses the spacer holes to start more seedlings. Has anyone out there done that?
Any other suggestions?
Thanks all, O2

I like the advanced nutrients range. with particular attention to sensi grow/bloom a and b, voodoo juice, sensizym, carboload, barricade, big bud.

Also overdrive, piranha and tarantula. Maybe some humic and fulvic acid thrown in for good measure. All of these things in the right quantities will maximise your yield.

Forgot about liquid oxygen and silicon too.

Okay, just started my first AG grow, thanks to all the good advice from others in this forum. I'm growing Misty (nice and short), Fox Farm nutes, and will switch to 400W MH/HPS after they sprout. A few questions:

1. Have people used the plastic domes that cover the holes until sprouting? I haven't seen anything in this forum about that.
2. The Fox Farm schedule says to change the resevoir every two weeks. Are people doing this? Will it overstress the plants?

I'll post pics if things go well.
