The Acapulco Gold marijuana strain is one of the most well known on the planet. Everyone agrees that it hails from the area in and around Acapulco, Mexico. Some people say that the "gold" in Acapulco Gold represents the golden coloring of the buds. Others say it refers to the fact that this optimal-quality outdoors cannabis strain demands a higher market price than most others ever have. Green, gold and brown hues combine beautifully on highly-potent, resin-coated bud colas of the Acapulco Gold marijuana plant. Also note that there is a similarly-named strain, also from the Acapulco region, Acapulco Red.

Toking Acapulco Gold medicinal cannabis is like having dinner at a 5-star restaurant: real nice. This is the type of weed that you maintain a private, hidden stash of and break it out only on special occasions. Not very much experimentation has been publicized about the indoor cultivation of Acapulco Gold marijuana. And because so many growers are moving indoors these days, Acapulco Gold is more and more difficult to find. However, if you have the time and space to wait for her to mature, the Acapulco Gold strain of cannabis is still one of the best in the world.

I enjoyed your post! I have a few Acapulco Gold seeds, but haven't been brave enough to plant them. I know that if I tried to grow one indoors, it would sprawl over my grow room for 6 months until I finally pulled it up. The smoke would probably be good, but I just find the landrace sativas to be a mess indoor. Outdoor is out of the question, but I AM tempted!

I bought some Acapulco Gold from a medical marijuana pharmacy thinking it would take me back to the good old days smoking primo Mexican Acapulco Gold. Needless to say, it didn't. It was an extremely underwhelming experience smoking it. It was even priced lower than other modern strains. In other words, it was nothing special to me.

Probably not the real deal.

I had the same experience. Would love to sample the real deal Acapulco Gold at some point though.

What was you experience with the old Mexican grown AG? I have heard it was like taking mushrooms, very trippy. I have 3 varieties of AG going now. Both hybrids sadly, but you never know. They were crossed to good sativas so there is that. I grew out Bodhi's AG and was underwhelmed. Good enough but not so strong and trippy. The original was grown high in the mountains close to the equator in Guerrero, so you can not expect the exact same product from your closet.

The closest I have come to the trip is Chimera's Highland Mexican x Blueberry. One pheno is like a mild shroom ride. This is a Guerrero strain, so grown around where Acapulco Gold was grown. I had one male that produced visuals. Made stuff shimmer around the edges and closed eyes sparkles.

I'm sure it'll turn out great, with a higher THC content than the original.
