OK sorry guys, I have been away !

But after many months and comparable grows, it dose seem to help in a big way.

I dont know if there is still photos up, with the setup.... as I think I deleted them from my photobucket.

But the density is uncomparable. Bigger hard nugs are always closest to the UVA tube.

As I still use it now ! almost 16mths later.

really good post, great research and info

thanks for bringing it back with your update (may not have found it otherwise)

Have you ever looked at Ceramic Metal Halides?

they have UV and work for all phases (veg & flower)

We ran 2x 250 ceramics next our 1000W HPS, for comparison grow... here was the down sides to the ceramic IMO:

1, they are hard to get lamps for and aint cheap in comparison. (here)
2, they chew a shit load more juice than the 4.5ft UV fluro.
3, you get about the same spectrum of UV but more intense from fluro. I prefer the penetration of a HPS with combination UV fluros... it just works for us.

We keep going back to the Fluro.

Combinations tried over a E&B table 2MX2M, in coco and pots:

1.
1000W HPS
400W MH
4.5FT UV repti- FLURO

2.
1000w HPS
2 x 250W ceramics

3
1000W HPS

4
2x 400W MH
1 x 400W HPS
4.5ft UV FLURO

-- and i came back to the 1st.

do the UV lights used in clubs give the same effects, and would it be better to use it only for the last 3 weeks so the plant doesnt get dmged by light?

UVC, will cause symptoms similar to sun burn, ( to you ), don't look at , and spend as little time as possible in there.
Do you know what spectrum's ? And what else are you running? HPS or MH ?

Do you know how many nm ? The cleaning UVC lights usally run between, 130nm and 185nm.
Dose it have any other numbers >?

You want UVA not UVC.

THE SUN:

UV is usually divided into three components, with increasing energy:
  • UV-A: 320-400 nm
  • UV-B: 280-320 nm
  • UV-C: 200-280 nm
Of these UV-B is the most dangerous form, since part of it reaches ground level, where it can affect human health (e.g. cause certain forms of skin cancer) and damage the DNA of flora and fauna.

The UV-C energy is potentially more dangerous, but it decreases dramatically as ozone increases, because of the strong absorption in the 200-280 nm wavelength band. The UV-B is also strongly absorbed, but a small fraction reaches the surface. The UV-A is only weakly absorbed by ozone, with some scattering of radiation near the surface.

its a 6W UVC light - as per you link.
If that is the case your spectrum will rate =Wavelength 100~280nm
IMO, just not enough, 280 nm is the bear MIN to get a desired effect.
Your light would probably start out out around 240nm (new)
