That High School skunk

Thats terribly depressing. I love skunky weed, and the 'tude is having a 1 hour promo today at 4AM my time where if you buy a pack of G13, you get a 5 pack of their Cheese for free...I was thinking about either Skunk #1 or Super Skunk...

I've heard you say this before about that strain, too. What a shame.

That promo applies for any pack. As long as you spend 30 bps total you get the 5 fem cheese from G13, and the other UFO's

oh I know, I just wanted some skunky weed, and g13 is also doing a breeder promo for 3 free seeds with any of their packs. I can't even afford an order tonight...haha

I have tested 127 different ladies from respected breeders so far and have not come across one that smells like straight skunk from a trichome rub. There is something more to it that relates to air chemistry. If I stick my face in a jar of stinky OG, I smell OG perfume but not skunk. But if I put a baggy of that stuff in my pocket and go for a walk outside, the skunk aroma wafts out and is incredibly strong. It may have something to do with oxidation and switching to a different air mass so you can detect it. This also works if you just open a jar but don't stick your face in it, let the aroma come to you and you get a strong skunk blast.

That said, almost every dank variety causes the skunk blast if you try the baggy in your pocket trick. But the strongest I have come across so far has been Reserva Privada Kandy Kush and HSO Desert Diesel, both freebies...
im sorry to hear that i got a albertwalker og it smells like a dead skunk with og behind it one plant will over power any og you have put it this way i got a few put one of these girls in i cant talerate the smell gives me a head ack and trimming it sucks for me but ever old hippy that trims it love the shit out of it my old friend and loves it he sead it reminds him of the old days. the dark fucker in the pic is hawian native to hawaii and the old man. i myself dont like the smell of skunk its realy strong smell i once to a big wiff and i turned around and through up in my grow room, the skunk smell is over powering i dont like it i have been sprayed before and tomatoe juice doesnt take the smell off if you have ever been sprayed..

Roadkill skunk was around before Sensi seed bank. Sam takes credit, but I really don't think roadkill skunk came from him. My money is on it being offspring from commercial weed that made it's way through the US in the 70s. Sam still claims to hold the real skunk but says he won't breed with it or give it away because he doesn't like the smell. Suuuure. He just likes to pop up and say he has something that everyone else wants, but alas, he's holding it tight because he personally hates it. Lol. Ok then.

Anyway, you're not going to find roadkill in any skunk strains, or mr nice shit. The closest you'll get to rks is a chem/diesel/og variety.
i remember reading that sam did not like this trait and selected the sweet smelling plants
this is why its harder to find in current skunk seed selections
a cutting of cheese this is very smelly not quite the same thing but extreme odour none the less
shit from mr nice is an indica selection or this smelly trait is from the indica pheno in the cross with skunk1
critical mass can also throw some very smelly phenos
i have found some phenos of ak47 in the 90s were very smelly in that horrible smelly kind of way like something rotten or garbage bag smell lol
but this was not as strong as cheese imo

peace

Good luck finding it, old school skunk is gone, I haven't seen any in over a decade. Europeans don't refer to skunk the same way we do in the states. A lot of "skunk" strains are fruity and not skunk at all in the way we're looking for.

I'd love to find it again too, I think about it everytime I drive by a skunk. Skunkiest cut I ever came across was from a bag I was sold as "white widow" not sure if it really was widow but it stunk up an entire wood shop when I had it in my pocket, I had to give it back and tell the dude to hold it until after work.

I ran 6 Mr Nice Shit beans. Got 2 females they were both "sweet". One of them smells exactly like a cut of AK47 that is going around this area, sharp sweet smell with a bit of catpiss. The other was run-of-the-mill sweet skunk. Yield not not impressive and they both had a tendency to herm. Good smoke but nothing compared to the modern hybrids.

I was thinking the same thing, a cheese, or perhaps a 'chunk' (cheese x skunk) smells pretty strong. My chunk and its offspring certainly does. Not dead animal like though.
that horrible smell i don't think was so desirable so it was breed out
i do not ever remember skunk here smelling horrible, ak47 was the strain for that garbage smell

people were not so fascinated by smell in the past, it was appearance (trich coverage) and taste potency etc that were regarded as the criteria to judge good bud
i find today smell is with some folk the no1 requirement and folk are quite happy to smoke dry looking tiny buds with only moderate resin coverage as long as the buds stink like fuck

Sam still posts on icmag and said recently that he still holds roadkill skunk, but won't breed with it anymore or let it out because he dislikes it. If that makes any sense. But there was a lot of true roadkill skunk around back in the day, I don't believe sam created rks. He got some just like everyone else but did work with it. The U.S. was a melting pot of imported commercial weed back then. Guerrilla grown bud from all over the globe made it's way here and birthed a lot of the legends over the years. It wasn't until the 90's that mostly everything coming here was mexi hybrid stuff. That's why it's so hard to trace shit like chemdawg back to the original source because the chances are, it's roots lie in old school commercial weed.

I saw a thread on ICmag where Sam talked about it and I personally think Sam is full of shit.

Why would you not release it when so many people want it?

Why would you keep holding onto it if you disliked it so much?

So either he doesn't have it or he is just a colossal asshole.

not heard that one lol, do not know sam i have no real interest in the legendary stories these old hippies heros tell each other
always fighting over who found what they are nothing special imo

i think many of these so called elite clones that coincidentally sprang up in the 90s
are phenos from other breeders/pollen chuckers from old dutch seed banks along with the marc emery Canadian thing
another option is they came from imported brick weed and folk created hybrids themselves
i know some folk in the US find this dutch/Canadian possibility a hard one to take in
wanting to believe these keepers were created and selected by us breeders .. who knows lol

Years ago circa late 80s early 90s alot of the commercial guys i knew were running northern lights x skunk and it was usually too stinky to keep more than a half quad in your pocket double bagged.

nlxsk1 has produced many keepers that have been renamed i'm pretty sure of that
very popular here in the uk in the early 90s
pretty much all these strains throw the odd stinky resin fest here and there
commercial growers will pass on these lower yielding smelly keepers
to folk that give them a name pass them around and legends are re-born lol

I don't believe the smell is specific to just one strain and the strains named Skunk are definetly not what we're looking for.

I think you got it a little backwards. In the 90's Dutch breeders were using keepers from genetics originally from the US (ie. Skunk, Northern Lights, Haze) not the other way around.
