If you look closely in the shot below you can see some yellow within the bud. There are maybe 5 bud sites showing this. It's hard to see clearly through all the trichomes, but looks to be yellow "calyx" tips rather than yellow sugar leaf...

DSC00883a.JPG

It doesn't really look like new bud development, and is potentially a hermie site developing....but....I spotted this a few days ago and have been monitoring the few affected buds closely ever since, and the yellow parts aren't growing fast. One slightly similar one that I saw a week ago did eventually turn out to be new pistils...but it wasn't quite as yellow looking as this.

I will make a final decision Friday morning about whether to leave it for the long weekend, or chop it before going away...
My current opinion is that I should let them go..
- They may not be hermies
- It's so close to harvest, even if they are it won't matter much
- A few seeds of this plant would not be unwelcome....

If anyone has any strong opinions either way then feel free to post them, and I'd be glad to chew them over ;)

Looks good! Those look like nanners but hard to tell from the pic. If you're chopping anyway in a few days I wouldn't worry about it, it's not enough time to do anything unless you have other plants nearby.

I came back from my weekend expecting the worst, and I'm still a bit confused about those yellow bits in the buds. Overall the plant looks ok...A bit weather beaten at the top, which might be starting to fox-tail from the stress, but not yellowing too much elsewhere on the non-stressed leaves. Lots of purple patches appearing in the buds leaves.

More ambers are showing, but I have a feeling I can leave her another few days, possibly more. It all depends on those yellow bits at the moment. I may take off a bud and investigate more closely. My worst case is that this is some sort of mild symptom of bud rot, and I'd really like to rule that one out!

TGA eh? Very nice! Looks frosty af
I remember Subcool was active about 9 years ago when i was on here all the time. He was part of the community here that helped me learn how to grown before i even germinated my first seed. Looking forward to hearing about how it smokes after cure

Cheers dude.
Subcool was a bit of a legend, though I never spoke to him when he was around. I've got to respect the results I've had with his stuff anyway. Speaks for itself really.

Yeah. I'll be doing a weigh-in and smoke report in due course...

The top cola has been chopped. The pic below is taken on an A4 sheet for scale. The bit on the right was pulled from the light green section on the left side of the big cola, as it was showing the most discolouration.

There are some close-ups of the strange discolouration below. I'm still none the wiser, but it doesn't appear to be either hermie or bud rot...ideas? Though I think I could cut her down today and she'd be good I think I'm going to leave her to go for another couple of days...

Was soooo close to harvesting at lights-on tonight, I literally had everything laid out and the clippers inside the tent looking for my first branch to snip. But I suddenly had a change of heart...

It's suddenly a lot cooler here today, so the heat problems I've been having have been fixed overnight. Those high temps had really been hurting her...so I decided I would push her a little longer now the situation has improved.

I'm hoping/assuming that the yellow tips in the bud were just heat related at this point...

Here she is tonight, missing her main cola now, obviously.

Wot wattage you using and wot sort of weight we looking to pull mate? How long was veg/flower to now?
Yield is not going to be great tbh. More about the quality than quantity with this strain really.

I'm under 400W HPS in soil, with about 4 weeks veg, but no pruning or training either, so I'm guessing I might pull just 2Oz off this plant, maybe a bit more. This is week 9 of flowering.

Harvest Day!! - Week 9ish since 12/12

I decided to go ahead and give her the chop. I could have pushed her an extra week, as the top buds look a week ahead of the bottom ones, but since they weren't getting a whole lot of light anyway I decided to make the call.
The pile of leaves at the front is all the big sugar and fan leaf that had nice trichomes. I'm going to slow-dry them too, then make some gumby.

The tent is at 22.5C (and going down, I'm aiming for 18-20C), with RH of 53%. My tent is 2ftx2ft (60cm x 60cm) to give you an idea of scale. I'll weigh everything when I do the next trim in about a week. It should definitely be over 2Oz, though I'm not sure by how much.... :-o:weed:

I've hung most of them up on the octopus...

Let's see if she survives and can re-veg.

Awesome grow. Have you thought about selfing her if she re-veges?

Cheers! Yeah. Definitely. I've been searching for seeds, and can't get any, so I'm keen to try that if I can. I'll need to read-up on it and make sure I get it right if I do. I have a vague idea it involves colloidal silver or something, but I'll research before doing anything.

I've also offered clones of her up on the UK growers thread (again...if she survives) as I feel like this is a nice strain which is becoming a little rare, so any early examples should be shared...

I didn't manage to get my temps down, but no biggie. I also tried getting my humidity up a few %, but without much luck. In hindsight I probably should have just left all the fan leaves on if I wanted to get the slowest dry possible but, whatever.

After a few wobbles in the humidity it seems to have settled now to a pretty constant 22C (71.6F) and 53% RH . It's been like that for at least the last 24hr solid, and it based on the weather forecast it should stay like that for the next few days.

Just checked in on them for the first time today. I gave the leaf pile on the floor a quick turn, but that was all that needed doing. I think the leaves will be ready for making gumby tomorrow. I don't want to leave them too long otherwise they can be too fragile and you end up with leaf dust in your hash.

The buds are looking good. Should be great smoke when done.

It's been 7 days, and the bud is still not fully dry. Ideal drying conditions...

I think they'll take another 3 days at least.

The gumby turned out to be a bit of a bust. I got some lovely full-melt.....but only about half a gram! The trim wasn't primo to start with though, to be fair...lots of small fans in there etc.

Some of the bud was cracking off the main stems this evening, so I decided to put most of it into a jar to start curing. A few of the bendiest stems are still drying for another 12-24 hrs...

First impressions from the dried smoke is that I could have left it another week....but, hey ho. It's still good.....Buds have pistils which are mostly still pointy...which I think means it was still too early...a bit fluffy from the heat, but not too bad. Nice smooth smoke, and quite tasty, if not particularly strongly flavoured...again. More when I'm sober tomorrow!!

The mother still hasn't shown any sign of re-vegging despite 24 hrs of light. If she does I'll get to try out my DIY dwc/aeropot that I just got...just to see if it works...I really shouldn't do another grow......

Anyway....Here's some quick pics......

OK. All the bud is down and jarred-up. Total dry weight 4.25 oz = 120grams

Not bad for a single plant grow of a low-yielder strain.

I probably should have done the jarring the day before yesterday as they are now a touch on the dry side at 55% RH, but it should still all cure pretty nicely, if slowly.
DSC00936a - Copy.JPG

The big top cola weighs 10grams dry, but is not included in the weigh-in totals, as I kind of forgot about it in the jar...and it now has a bit of a musty smell and I'm not sure it's safe to smoke any more. I've un-jarred and re-jarred it since, so we'll see what happens to the smell on cure...

The bud in the jar is already a lovely smooth clean smoke. A very active high. They say this one makes you creative, and it certainly is not couch-lock at all.

It's perfect weed for sharing with buddies in the park on a hot summer day....shame it's bloody winter now!! I'm sure it'll be long gone by next summer!!

Because the bud was already on the dry side I've left most of the sugar leaf on. This has bumped up my weight a bit :)

Below is the larger jar with less in it (I'm going to try to find a smaller container for that):

It's 57 grams (it says 56 below, but I'd left a small bud stuck to the side of the jar which I added after the photo!)

And here's the smaller, fuller jar:

That's it....I hope you like my grow.
I'll possibly pop back in a month with one more update on the taste and smell of the cured product, but in the meantime feel free to drop a comment in here if you want. I'm sure I'll be lurking somewhere planning my next grow (I already have a potentially cunning plan :eyesmoke:)
Peace!!

We'll see tomorrow...I didn't weigh it wet, just eye-balled it...

Despite the slight fluffy-ness on drying I still reckon 2Oz is about right...
Ha...I've just realised @tyke1973 you were wondering about reading the O as an 0. Sorry...I always capitalise the O in Oz for some reason.. I need to stop it!...So yeah, I was guessing at 2 oz based just on the look of it wet, but my guess was way under anyway thankfully....20 oz would be nice though lol
