Tent grow, almost ready. Take a peak.

4x4 tent and 600w HPS light. Waiting on my 600w MH conversion bulb, picking up some fox farm soil and 3 gallon pots tomorrow. Growing 5 plants, RockLock from DNA Genetics. Anyone have any preferred methods on growing from seed? I'm thinking about getting a humidty dome and peat pucks? Next purchase is an exhaust fan, and a DIY carbon filter. Any predictions or suggestions?

Looks great so far. With a 600w an exhaust fan will be a must. Also, once they are full sized things might get a little tight in that area. Thats my 2 cents, but in the end it will work out great!

I appreciate the input. I personally don't see 5 plants getting too crowded, but I am a newbie. Can't wait to find out.

five plants will definately fit, i currently have 15 plants in my 4x4 tent, 3 around 1.5 feet in 2 gallon pots, 7 range from 6-12 inches in .3 gallon pots, and 5 seedlings in .3 gallon pots until theyre ready to transplant. also i have a 30 slot humidity dome for the peat moss pellets, a fan and all thats sitting in a 3x3 tray you def will have enough room. i havent needed to exauhst in my tent i have 3 flaps that i can roll up around the bottom with screens that exauhsts enough for me. i have a 6 inch inlet fan and a 4 inch inlet fan. like to see how yours turns out

Looking great your set up is like the big brother of mine. I have a 2x2 GL grow tent with a 400w hps in it and you have a 4x4 with a 600w hps nice nice. Personally I top early to create 8-10 main colas and then lollipop those colas to create ONLY COLAS and no puffy airy buds. It also helps on the weight issue as well. Takes a bit longer in veg time and will cut plant numbers down but in the long run is WELL worth a QP per plant. I also use 7-10 gallon pots and do straight organic soil and organic nutrient line up. Not sure what you were thinking about as for grow medium this is all my style of growing so dont feel that I am forcing it upon you only offering some tips that I know work.

i have the same tent in a white interior.. im laying it on its side and doing training for space with a florescent system. its like 8 ft tall so i didnt expect that, the package said smaller :) . good tent but it will definatly need an Intake aswell as an exhause since the area is tight..

Feel free to drop whatever knowledge you can. I am pretty unfamiliar with topping and cropping, but I like the sound of all those COLAS. I was planning on going with advanced nutrients after a month of veg.

Ok well with that I will drop this:

1: Just a personal opinion but advanced nutrients is a waste of money when you can get the same results for SOOOOO much cheaper, and way TASTIER as well. I am an ALL day smoker every day all day ya feel me? I have done side by side tests with organic and chemical nutrients and hands down every time the organic wins smell and tastes tests and lets not forget about high tests lol. There are alot of great organic nutrient companies look for OMRI labels this is pure organic stuff. Natures Nectar great product 3 part seris with a 2 part add on line that is optional.

2. Topping works GREAT new growers (as I was once as well) are always leary about just cutting the main growth tip off the plant in veg. You gotta have the big picture in mind when you are growing pot. Let your plant get 4-6 nodes and just cut the main growth tip off. The end result is 8-10 colas. You then tie these colas down and out horizontally till they reach the outer rim of your big 7-10 gallon pots. Once they have reached the edge all the way around you can let them free to go vertical again. I find yarn is the best substance to use when doing LST (low stress training) to tie the plant out. About this time which is normally 6-8 weeks of 20-4/18-6 (whatever you prefer for veg time) is when you switch to 12/12 or flower. Unlike letting a plant go natural you are gonna cut off all the under brush growth or the lower 1/3 of the plant. Leaving it only cola to grow. You normally stop this trimming or "lollipopping" about the third week of flower once your buds are starting to form. Now by the time you have flipped 12/12 you should have already had preflowers forming in veg. You thus start counting flowering days AS SOON as you flip 12/12 (as long as you had preflowers in veg mind you). I never go by the days on the seed packets or breeders info I always go by look of eye. You'll know when its right got all red hairs that are receeding into the bud, the bud looks a tinge of orange and just is hard as a rock.

3. BIG POTS result in BIG BUDS. You can do 1 of either 2 things. Fill your tent up with a BUNCH of small plants with smaller buds or fill your tent up with a few big plants with huge buds on them. Also I have found when using big pots that cutting little cheater holes on the side of the bottom pot resivour helps a BUNCH when watering and draining the pot into the shower like I water.

4. Cool tube or air cooled reflector. You can get the light SOOOOOOOOO much closer without risk of burning the plant resulting in more trichombs.

5. If your thinking about more sativa side strains that tend to stretch stretch stretch I HIGHLY RECOMEND you getting the Humboldt County's Own Trio pack Bushmaster, Purple Maxx (or Snow Storm Ultra whichever you prefer), and Gravity. Do some research on the products they work GREAT.

I'm gonna be along for the ride anyway you go man just giving you some insight that I would've loved before my first grow. Good luck with the whole thing

use the LST or Topping method for sure..u dont have much space to grow upwards..or maybe just get a whole bunch of 4-5 inch tall clone(plants) and throw them into flower..then u dont have to worry about electricity $$ for veg. how r u planning on growing? whats ur goal?

i suggest LST..simply tying down ur plant..and if needed u can still top it..u dont wanna veg to long..thats how u get a big electricity bill..u dont have a lost of space anyways

and when picking nutrients know that when using organics ur plant will grow slow and not have a great yield..chemical brands make ur plant grow faster and give u a better yield..dont get me wrong u can veg a plant till its huge and get some fat buds off it using organic lines ..but i dont and most people dont got the time for that shit..i usually grow chemically but like organics to..i use general hydroponics and advanced nutrients and havent had many problems..used FF before to but like GH and AN better..i get some fat solid buds off little 1-2foot tall plants using GH and AN but when i try it with FF i get airy, fluffy, leafy buds.

Ya see I veg up to 5 weeks under a cfl bank of about 350w. They only are under the hid in veg for about two weeks just to get the plant used to hid and then flip 12/12 so power bill really isn't an issue for me. I don't have the need for lbs upon lbs of pot so I only grow one big plant at a time in my space and atleast a qp dry every harvest which isn't bad for a 2x2 grow tent with 10 weeks flowering time on one plant. Most of the time I keep the veg box going while the flower tent is going so its an on going process for me which is nice and fits my needs perfectly. The longest haul is that first grow at the end of the summer getting started again for the year. By the time the bud is dried properly for a week and then cured for a month I'm half way through my next flower cycle and never run out of bud. It works for me and keeps plant numbers down. Although I've ithcing to get up north to a med state to where I don't have to worry about plant numbers so I can try an SOG. I'm pretty good at cloning so I'm sure I could get the hang of it. I wanna try the GH line up of nutrients, I've only had experince with FF and other off brand chem nutrients. FF does give me airy buds your right. I might just try the GH line up after the summer starts winding down to an end. I use natures nectar organice nutrients just the three part series and then also blue mountain organics the 4 part series. Used bat guanos for a while and switched to the liquid organics cause I just couldn't stand the smell anymore of that shit hahaha literally. Anyways you have a good idea cali-grown don't get me wrong just showing my sides of the story as well. Much love
