I should have started out by saying of the things I know enough about - I agree with OP. The other things I don't know enough about to agree or disagree so I am not impugning the information. Citations go a long way to clearing up any grey area but i agree with the short hand - in fact my first post on this subject essentially said - i agree but in order to explain it to someone new to growing .. blah blah.

i think we are on the same page as usual ceestyle (or at least reading from the same book)!
You guys pick up the same curious george book somehwere?

Im not saying anyone is wrong just wondering how you got the facts. Its all opinion without some real facts. Thats all. Im not trying to start a debate just looking for some real supporting info.

I thought this was an incredible post to find in the old post searching i do. I think it deserves a bump!

Anybody got any updated opinions on these myths?

I was thinking of one regards #1. From all the reasoning i've heard and science i know.
Since energy never dissappears, It must come from a light in the form of HEAT or LIGHT. Correct me if im wrong regards this fact?

So if CFL produce lower lumens per watt than HID, (and using lumens as the total measure of light), does this not mean that HID infact produce less heat the CFLS for a given wattage in total*?
*Ignoring the concentration or spread of the heat, and ignoring the PAR related issues with using lumens as a light measurment.

Is this reasoning correct?
