Temps in the 90's. HELP!!!

i just started 3 plants 3 days ago in a rubbermaid stealthbox. i'm running 4 26w CFLs and a 15w floro tube. a already have a 120mm computer fan that can move 78 cfm for exhaust. Every time i got to check on my babies, the temps are ~91*F. i have a fan running into my passive intake, but all that did was lower it to ~88*F. i also added half a CD case below the 2 bottom-most lights as a heat shield, but that only lowered it to ~87*F.

my question is how can i lower it about 10*F for under $25? should i add another exhaust or should i get a 90mm 40cfm fan and mount it directly across from my exhaust to blow on the lights? or what else should i do?

my box is actually a rubbermaid "roughneck" 32gal trashcan []Rubbermaid - Storage & Organization Products for your Home. its 19" diameter at the bottom and about 31" tall.

thanks in advance for your help

Seems hotter than it should be with 4 26w and a 15w tube . . . what's your room temperature?

I have 6 42w and 8 23w in a pretty small space. One microwave fan sucking out a 6" diameter hole, a passive intake the same size, and a 8" personal fan inside the cab blowing on the plants. Keeps temps sane.

I'm shooting from the hip here, but when you say "i have a fan running into my passive intake", does that mean you have a fan blowing INTO your growing area? Try moving that fan INSIDE the growing area and have it blow air across the plants. I position mine in front of the passive intake and then just aim it at the plants. The exhaust should take care of the rest.

To me temperature ain't a big deal, jsut make sure you keep the hot air moving out of the plants area, I think youll be fine then, as long as it doesn't accumulate.

My temps are high too like 84 - 89 depends if i close curtain or have it open or windows, weather outside etc. you can't be perfect about it. just keep the ehat from the lamps going up and away from the plants. I have a small fan blowing on my plant directly (between the side lighting) and a small computer fan above my cfl rig that pushes the cfl heat up.

I am running 3 42 watt 2700k cfls + 1 26 watt 6500 on top of my plant and one 42 watt 2700k with a reflector on the side. Just keep it moving. Also, as a last ditch you can use frozen water bottles (its a hassle).

The photo is ten days old, my plant is already flowering with developing buds. Will update if your interested.

Yes I will have photos, actually i realized i jsut got batteries but my plants is a sleep. I'll try to take a photo with flash in the darkness.

Been a while since I took a pic anyway.

Heres the best photo I could take the blue light is a little led and UV led setup I had for other purposes I use it to check my plant shortly at night time, you can see the general setup.

This is day 47. Flwoering for 20 days. Tried to get bud shots but it wont focus.

This is prime time for you to spread the light. Surround the plant, not just the cola.

I have 5-42watt cfls in a box that measures 32x24x16, i use a $12 exhaust fan from home depot, its not the inline, its the square one with a 3in outlet. 50cfm, i have it mounted at the top of the box sucking air out and just dumping it in my room, for in take i have 3 1in holes, my temps are at 76 all day. I know the 50cfm doesnt sound like much but this little guy moves some air, i think it is perfect for cfls

Heres a link to the one i have

the temperature in my room is 69-72*F

should i buy another computer fan and ount it inside to blow across the lights? or should i make another exhaust?

well the fan is a 12" "turbo" fan that i use in the summer to stay cool. if i put it inside then it'll take up WAY too much room and it'll be like a hurricane to my plants

but won't the heat stress it and possibly cause it damage and possibly cause it to hermie?

I really wouldn't thin kso, the plant is accustomed to high temperatures I would think from china/india etc. I know it's not exactly the saem but I just go by that, better hot than cold :/ Also, my seeds are feminized, showed sex 5 days after putting into flower, so everything seems well. Just keep the air going away.

Here's mine day 48 today with a bud shot, 21 days into flowering, you can see my set up a bit.

I would get a small, cheap (like $6) fan from wally world and put it inside to blow air across your plant/lights.

If that doesn't work, you're gonna have to increase your exhaust. What's the size of your intake and exhaust holes?

i don't want to have them that hot if i can do anything about it, if theres nothing can do, then so be it, but i dont want to purposely do harm to my future ladies.

also i read that after about 85*F the plants stop using CO2 efficiently, and growth is inhibited. true?

should i just get a small [90mm] computer fan? would that work the same? because i can get those very cheap

my intake is about 2.5"x2.5" square, and my exhaust is a 120mm computer fan.

i just got a 80mm 35CFM computer fan [for $2.50 ].

multiple choice test for y'all...

1. With my new fan, i should ____ .
a) mount it at the bottom blowing hot air off the plants
b) mount it at the top blowing across the lights
c) mount it across from my other 120mm 75CFM fan as a second exhaust
d) mount it over the passive intake to create an active intake
e) none of the above

:dunce:= me
