And as for a ribcage tat.... from 1 - 10 on the pain I'll go with an 11.

I have 4 (left arm sleeve-left pectoral (tit)- right shoulder & back) I am too chicken to do my rib cage.

Don't have a rib piece "yet" but have freinds with em. Yeah, they hurt, but if you can't handle the pain to have something meaningful and lasting in your life, then you don't deserve it... Just my thoughts on it

Basically the ribs/sternum/armpits are gonna tickle to say the least. But I had my back done in two three hour sessions about 3 days apart from each other, no real healing process.... And man that second session was a biotch! The skin was already inflamed and puffy/sour, going over it again with solid black definatly sucked. But I had no choice since I was deploying the next day, so I had to get it done quickly.

Don't do what I did... seriously, on a bigger piece have a 1-2 week long wait period for healing in between your sessions. Unless you like scar tissue!

Good luck either way, oh and DONT smoke weed while your gettin tattoo'd, it intensifies the pain since it's all your brain can focus on.

I've heard necks are up there in pain.

I just got my first just over 2 months now. I got it in England when I visited some friends. I was pretty proud of my independence to go half way around the world with just peers, no parents. I had to kinda become travel leader too, so yea I felt some accomplishment.

I was sweating beads the first 5 minutes. The artist asked if I was going to pass out. I hadn't thought of it til that moment. After a few more minutes of concentrating on breathing the sweat stopped and the pain was glorious and serene. Then I was relaxed and really enjoying it.

I have a full back piece, my right leg covered, and am working on a sleeve. I will say each area had it's spots. My brother just tattooed his rib cage and said it hurt like hell. The bottom line is if you are really dedicated to the location and design you should not adjust it due to pain factor. You have to live with the decision for the rest of your life so what's a few hours of discomfort versus a life time of "I wish I would have...". Just my 2 cents.

They actually say that tattoos on your ass are the worst (as in like full suits). Think of it this way- chicks get big tats on their ribs all the time, dont be a wuss!

Who exactly says this?

Cause, I have to disagree from experience. I have my entire right butt cheek tattood with a 'Gas Station' and surrounding scenery (think Big Daddy Ed Roth - Rat Fink style). Other than my Hip (hurt as bad as elbow) and back of my thigh (hurt as bad as the inside of my biceps) which really aren't a part of your ass, it didn't really hurt anymore than any other tattoo I've had, maybe even less painful. Now afterwards, when it is feeling like a sunburn, it is much more uncomfortable than most others due to the location and the fact that we are on our butts a lot.

I have a real big Irish Celtic neck piece & it didn't her much. I fell asleep during the Taft since it took almost 2hours. I would say mind over matter. I'm due to go get a major piece from my head to my neck to my shoulder in September & I'm excited. I would say don't let the fear overwhelm you. Just get lost thinking about something else.

My daughter dated a guy because she thought he had a sexy back. Then he went out and got 3 different tat's on his back, and she dumped him.

Think about it, it's there for......ever.
