Tasty T4-2100s...

Im pretty excited about having pulled the trigger on the cobs finally. Im getting 4 of Tasty's T4-2100s for a 4x8 space. I understand they should produce quite well in that space.

But after all the researching and comparing i didnt research much about HOW to grow with them. Lol

So aside from keeping a canopy temp around 80 to 85.... what else do i need to know? Dial the nutes up or down? Water more or less frequently....or more less water at a time?

And i know some guys are getting near 2 gpw... so how should i define success as a first time cob grower (bee growing indoor hps for 5 years or so)? Anything over 1 gpw is a win for my experience or should i be expecting more?

I think 1.25 is typical in soil. 1.5 in hydro. It's certainty possible to exceed those numbers. I have done it using Gen5 Veros at about 40% efficiency -w- CO2.

I will tell you, that if you come into this looking at 2GPM you are setting yourself up to be very disappointed. When YOU get your first harvest in front of you then you will see what I am talking about. It takes a lot to grow that much flower man, The internet and camera tricks are misleading as are people using wet numbers for their yield so be careful who's "2GPW" you believe.

Have fun though, it's an awesome experience, it's addictive (the growing), and it's very rewarding.

As to your questions, you will need to learn how to read your plants for what they want, they will determine how much you feed and how often you water etc........Don't forget to keep humidity in check and to spray once a week or so with some type of bug preventative. You don't want bugs.

I think the mistake a lot of people make is hanging their cobs too high. In a large setup it doesn't matter as much but I've seen people hanging my lights 25-30" above their plants in a tent. They're likely worried about light distribution, burning the plants, temps, and maybe it's just nicer to look at plants when there isn't a lamp hovering right over them. But it would be wise to discover how close is too close for any particular lamp and keep the lamps just above that. T4s with 90degree reflectors should be hanging 14-16 inches above the plants, maybe a little closer depending on how the plants respond.

The lamps I built for myself before I started Tasty were open frame passive designs. My best yields came from grows where the top colas were actually sticking through the lamp frame, some by 5-6 inches.

Thanks yet again. Goals are key to improving and now i have mine at 1.25 gpw.

Naw... i am experienced enough to know better than to set expectations too high. And also to know that without goals progress comes very slowly. Looks like my 1gpw goal wasnt far off the mark.

And by now i am addicted to growing for sure. I mean, i dont partake anywhere near as much as i used to, but i spend way more on growing than i ever used to...lol

So i also know that it helps to ask for tips when you start a new method/strain/tech to prevent from making stoopid avoidable mistakes right out of the gate....

Any time you switch something big (like lights) in your grow room you should expect some rough spots.if you hit 1 gpw i think your doing good, anything above that is a bonus. Some of that comes down to how you trim and how you train plants during early flower.I don't weigh larfy shit that wont end up getting scaled later.if it ends up in the hash bin it dont count.but others like to keep and smoke that stuff and also maybe leave more branches down low.so i would say a better way of comparison would be to see how it weighs compared to other grows in that space.

Im the same. I dont weigh hash bin material. But i do keep/trim some lower buds that maybe others wouldnt.

Also, while i have scrogged before with hps i havent bothered in some time. I imagine the cobs would produce quite well with scrog... its too late for me to scrog this run...so maybe some LST or something...
