Tangled Roots and Transplanting. 6 Weeks of Veg. Worth it?

Is it possible to transplant 3 plants from a 8-gal res to three separate 5-gal buckets? Their roots have already grown in and have tangled in a bundle. It seems as if they are competing for space in my current res and I think having them in a separate res will make them grow better. They seem to be eating nutes at different rates, so I figure separating them will reduce the chance of deficiencies and allow them to grow better.

Please advise. I would like to do it today.

I am thinking about putting them in 3 separate 5-gal buckets.

Here is my other thread showing their growth with pics and video: HERE

I should mention that they are three unknown gender/strain plants that have been started from seed in rockwool, hydroton, and net-pots. What would you do, leave them be and switch to flower or detangle/transplant them and hope it doesn't cause so much stress as to turn them male?

I just went through this a week ago with my 4 hazeman mystery seeds.I was going to leave them alone because they were very tangled, but decided it would only get worse so i carefully pulled one plant at a time out of the res.If you do it very slowly they somewhat pull apart with not many roots breaking.I did notice they were stunned a few days, but returned to kicking ass again.
I will not let them go that long in a res together anymore.Single 5 gal buckets for now on.
