Taming Excess Ventilation Capacity

I found a barely used set of a Vortex 12" inline fan (1170 CFM) and a 12" X 39" Phat Filter for $400.

This is more capacity that I need right now, but I plan to largen the growing area to include some vegetables later and will use it then. In the meantime, I figure that I could run the fan a a lower speed to save electricity and reduce noise. What issues should I consider in this regard? Is there any specifc type of speed control to look for or will any simple rheostat control knob work. Thanks in advance.

You can use that simple controler just make sure its amp rating is matched. Also give that fan its own circuit or at least not the same as your lights or any pumps are on as its gonna draw amps.

Thanks, FF.

Yeah, Waffle, I couldn't pass it up. Should it not work out, I;ll make it available in a deal to someone else.

Don't think I will need to replace the carbon. The reciept said the item was new in May. He said he did one crop, but I think the guy just thought he was going to grow and then bailed. Stuff looks unued as I examien it further,
