Does this seem like it would be able to handle 2 mother plants. the lights are 85 watt cfl dual spectrum. the container is a easygrow 2 pot gravity fed set up. I planed to use coco and perlite as a medium. let me know. Im a very new to all this mother.jpg

i'm very new to all this as well so take my comments for what it's worth.
i have a few clones under 4x40 watt flourescent lights. i keep the plants as close as possible to the lights and they are doing just fine! i

Im using same CFL set up for the most part and trust me you want at least two veg bulbs one for each plant. Save your redish yellow bulbs till flowering .
Here is a pic of mine with just two of the CFL Veg bulbs from stealth hydro, when I do it again I'll use a total of 4 of thoes bulbs to make sure to get down to all of the lower leafs when it's starts getting super bushy.

im not planning to flower these plants. I have 2 of each bulb since i got 2 of their bubbleponics dual spectrum combo deals then decided to use a 600watt light instead of the cfls. i just want to make some mothers. clones are to pricy to keep buying each time.

well you can deff just keep mother plants going with two of the veggie lights. Just know that you need all the root room you can get because I can not stress how crazy they will be in just two months I've seen them take over 5 gallon containers.

The 600 watt will definitley do the trick. I got mother plants & I have them under several T-5 / 8 bulbs. They really love it!
Just a helpful note: I brew my own compst tea (www.bountea.com) and all my plants love it. Peace & happy gardening!

Blaze is correct in regards to roots & enough room, cause I have some in ten squats & they r crazy big. So beware of those possibilities, each strain is so different (Height & width).

damn those are only 8.5L pots hopefully they will be big enough. would half perlite and half coco be a good medium or would something like fox farm soil be better? the 600 watt light i have is being used for the bubbleponics systems the cfls are going to be used to maintain mother plants. I would like to get 24 clones off 2 mother plants every 3 months. or as many as i can.

7.jpg8.jpgi have 2 plants a week old from plant but still only at an inch tall both have a lil white residue... moisture problem? ive only watered like 3 times shood i b more frequent? this is my 1st closet grow ive got a fan on it and checkn ph havnt started nutes yet so wondern y so small... thnx for all nput

Well eventually thoes pots will fill up and the roots will be soo compact they will litterly take the perfect shape of the container. I have noticed on all my grows that the roots always tend to resemble a lil bit of what the plant is like on green/top side if you will... So if you see the plant is looking bigger then your container, chances are roots are looking for more room as well. Here is a picture of what theas roots were like at not even a month old yet.
The roots in the other pic that you saw that was super bushy they have run out of room in its 5 gal container.

u can easly get 24 cuts off 2 mother plants, if lights right. what type of meadium are the plants going in?
I havnt decided Im thinking of using the fox farms ocean forest. I have never grown in soil so im not to sure about what to use. Ive heard that stuff is good but i dont want to get nute burn from feeding and having fertilized soil. or i was thinking perlite and coco fiber. I am planing to use mother plant nutrients and that isnt all that powerful so.

ok so I decided befor i start some mother plants ima do a grow from start to finish. Im using the 85 watt cfls atm plan to add 2 more in a couple weeks when the plants get bigger. I also plan to add a 2 ft 4 light t5 fixture. I figure ill do 4 cfls using the 30k color temp and the t5 using the 65k color temp and see how well it does. as i do not have any more money for hid lights. anyhow I got a purple power and then a kush. let me know what you think about everything and give me some advice. thanks.

these plants are doing great. atm im using 1 85w 65k floro and a 85w 30k floro from stealth (dual spectrum 2) they dont seem to mind. after researching some lighting i will be investing in a 400w MH light for this mother plant tent. either way just runing straight water set at 6.0 leting the plants eat the nutes in the ffof soil up befor i add anything.

ok heres the thing if you have enough room get bigger lights! I've used 1000, 600, 400 and 250 watt lights as well as cfl's, and clearly cfl has the lowest power output and u have to keep them very close. mothers need a lot of light becuase u will be taking clones and it will need plenty of light to grow more sprouts so u can clip more. BUT if you have a small budget and small space to work with than this could work but don't expect much

I am going to be purchasing a 400 mh due to space and heat i have a 600 watter and a 1000 watter i tried in this room and they wouldnt fit and allow for vent to reduce heat so i bought those lights 4x4 tents but they are in use. the 400 mh should give me enough light for some good growth and produce less heat so i can manage it with a fan blowing on it and a fan sucking the air out of the tent. also i have time i just put my plants into flowering so i got 2+ months befor ill be taking any clippings. these girls got time to get big.
