Take A Gander Over Yonder...Comments/Advice Please!

Okay...So I decided to take a whack at this growing thing. Now I have done tons of research and had even had a plant before. I know that the setup that I am working with right now is not near perfection but it is working. This is strictly experimental for me. Consider it getting my hands a little dirty to see if I like it. Which I am loving is so far.

I planted the little sprouts on 11-13-10. By the 15th the plants had broken ground. These Pictures were taken this evening. As you can see the light source was too far at first. (stretching) That has been resolved. Anyway take a look and tell me what you think. Again not much effort going into this at all. Please feel free to question or comment. Thanks...Picture 003.jpgPicture 005.jpgPicture 004.jpgPicture 001.jpgPicture 002.jpg

It's good to see someone that's getting their hands dirty and learning to grow the old fashion way. By doing.. it's best to make the mistakes early while the seeds are cheap or free.

Well money is short for one thing. I do plan in the near future to get a box system going. I was thinking of using plastic totes to create a good growing environment. That way i could have good ventilation and a lot more light could be focused on the plants. Not to mention looking more discrete in my closet and not getting blinded when you open the door...lol. The seeds were from a really good bag i had and i got about 8 more saved up for the next round. I will wait to do a better setup before starting the next batch. If i was to run in something like a tote i know i would need a low heat light. Would continuing to use the daylight bulbs i have be sufficient? I know light is important so please gimme input and ideas.. Any other designs i should consider?

when you repot you should plant it kind of low so you can put dirt like halfway up the steam, so it can stand up better, cause if it keeps stetching up, when it starts budding it can fall over

Doesn't switching to 12/12 start the plant into flowering process? I was under the impression that i would want as much light as possible till they were good size and more mature. Right now i have them on a 18/6 schedule. Might be able to do my new setup soon i hope. Replanting the plants with more stem below dirt will work huh...makes sense. Thanks...How long do you guys think till these might be ready to start the flowering ... couple months?

Gotcha.. Well how many bulbs similar to what i have should i use? Or is there a better bulb? Fluorescent tubes a good route to go? I know lots of people have success different ways. I was personally thinking that i should have at least 6-8 bulbs like i already have. I definitely know that i would probably go with a HPS for the flowering but i know they put out heat so would that be bad for a small setup?

then get the HPS ASAP, a 150 watt one from Home Depot is a good start (night light). They don't put out more heat than 6-8 cfls and they have a perfect reflector built in.

Errr ... why do you have more than one plant in a pot - nothing good is going to result from doing that.
You are going to have overcrowding and competition for light, root space and food - or you are going to probably damage the roots when you seperate the plants.

added this bit ...

Sorry - I thought they were in the same pot - didn't realise they were simply stretched so bad that they are using each other for support.

Yes i understand that having them in the same pot is a no no but this is not something that i am spending a lot of energy on...consider it a trial run. On that note though are they too young to separate them or re-pot them? If so how long should i wait?

your doing good considering conditions. Next time use small pots at first and give them loads of light(closer, which you already know).

Keep up the good work and enjoy :D

not bad progress for a day almost 2... should i separate the ones in the same pot? Now all these plants are bag seed. Are there any ways to tell what strain they might be? I assume you would have to wait till they are older to find out. I don't know that is what i am here for...lolHello 006.jpgHello 007.jpgHello 005.jpgHello 009.jpgHello 010.jpgHello 008.jpg
