I need advice . I've read both are good and both have pros n cons . My goal is simple. I want to grow a Christmas tree sized canopy . Will T5 have enough light during veg to get me there . ? Will 600MH do any better ? Flowering will be under 2 1000w HPS . I'll veg as long as I can 3-4 months and yes I know it'll stretch it's ass off . I plan on topping and cropping the Sides a few times . So please help.

I agree with booms.

we veg our newly rooted clones and seedlings for about 1-2weeks under an 8 bulb T5, then under the 600 until the flip. You'll notice they really take off under the 600 mh. Digilux all the way.

peace

Digilux isnt a conversion bulb! PAR is what plants read but without lumes you get less PAR. 39,000 lumes compared to 75,000 is no comparison.
this is from your link,

Please note that there is no 600W Metal Halide Core and Coil ballast. They do not exist in the general lighting industry. That is why all 600W Metal Halide lamps are conversion lamps designed to run on HPS Core and Coil ballasts to give you the greatest flexibility. - See more at: http://www.eyehortilux.com/products/specific/600w-Hortilux-Blue#sthash.PD24dmLv.dpuf

Yeah thats marketing by eye hortilux... either way the Digilux is the best 600MH bulb money can buy by FAR

I'm with slippyone, T5's & CFL's will do the job but MH will get u the results u want.
My mum & clones go under 2 large 80w Philip CFL's & they still don't really take off till they see the 600w Retro MH.

Starting seeds under flouro's = a breeze

starting seeds under a 600WMH = precise height (no stretch, no heat stress)

I would recommend starting under fluoro's for first two weeks then MH. If you had to Choose just ONE then MH, Air Cooled, etc, etc. You really should get flouros for seedlings/clones. Mh for veg - do whatever you want from there. A lot of experienced growers use 600-1000W HID to start seeds, clones, etc. It's not easy from my experience. I've stretched and burned a lot of seedlings, I'm also a noob but I have done both and fluoro is very safe for the seedling and noob friendly.
