Have you used this system? Why would I mix the spectrum when using these lights just for Veg?
Two of them for a 4 x 4 area. If you want you could check my journal. VV

I have followed your journals for awhile now, thanks for all your great posts! BTW I have always liked your tables!

Those tables are 32"'s wide though not four feet, so 1/3 less. Are you saying you read the DIY of the table? VV

I have been reading about bulbs lately, and there is always a debate on whether to mix the spectrum during a veg cycle, so I had to ask.

Yeah, I read the DIY and I also followed you post on the topic. I brought this up because I have a buddy that does not have space for his trays right now, so I told him about this site and to look up your name and look at what you had created. That info was very helpful to him, nice work, and thanks for sharing...So what is your thoughts on mixed spectrum during the Veg cycle..?

t-5's arnt value anything :) those bitches r expensive... get the 8 bulb 4 foot fixture it should run you about 300 or alittle more... they put out around 40,000 lumens and can get real close to the plants... which makes up for the fact they put out alittle less then hps i would get 4 bulbs of each kind.. soft and warm white... use only the 4 cool for veging... till the plants get big... and can actully use the light then put the rest on for late veg/flower

Yeah man, if it was not for concern about heat, I would stick with the 600w HPS. But, hey, if the t5's save me some bucks on the power bill and help me with heat issues in the summer, I will check them out. Thanks for the responces

The research done by the owner of the grow shop I visit showed that the mix of 1/2 red and 1/2 blue from start to finish work best. Jeff's son Peter is the first one I talked with about them. This was at the start of thier research about a year ago. Jeff started his Hydro Shop located in East Lansing, close to MSU, in 1983 and has been in business in that same building since then. When Peter is willing to tell me, the t-5 will outperform the 600watt hps and give a more even grow with less heat issues, I listened. I have spent a few thousand in their store, I don't think they are trying to piss me off. VV

Thanks for the info VV. They guy at my local shop also uses t5's, just for Veg though. He enjoys them alot, and as far as out performing a 600w hps, I would have to say that it depends on the application! Anyhow, do you think the more expensive t5's are worth the money? I am sure that the reflectors that cost double the price are nice, but are they worth it? Thanks for your advice so far VV, taker easy....DCG
